We had the good fortune of connecting with Christopher Pick and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Christopher, what is the most important factor behind your success?
I love this question, because it is good to pause and reflect on what makes you successful and to understand why your clients should and do choose you. That said, I believe the most important factor in our success as a company is living by the golden rule: treating others as we would want to be treated. We apply this philosophy in our relationships with our employees and our clients. It’s a guiding principle that makes tough decisions easier and helps us do the right thing even when it hurts. The result is a good reputation, long-standing clients, and referrals.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I own and operate Protectus Security in Irving, TX where we strive to be the security provider of choice by providing our clients with the best technology and customer service, and operate with integrity in all we do. Simply put, for us integrity means doing what we say we are going to do. I believe the combination of excellent technology and customer service is rare and is what our clients appreciate. I don’t think business is ever easy. In fact, there is probably a correlation between long-term success and initial difficulty. Choosing to operate with integrity and not taking short-cuts is harder in the short-term, but beneficial in the long-term. There have been many times where we have taken a financial loss on a client to honor our word and to take care of them, and our reward has been a clean conscience and an excellent reputation. That is the type of business we want to run.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If we had friends coming into town we would probably take them to the Dallas arboretum or Klyde Warren Park, to Taco Joint for breakfast tacos, Terry Black’s for Barbecue, Bryan Street Tavern for Pizza, Mi Cocina or Gloria’s for Mexican, and Uchi for sushi.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Well the golden rule that we follow as a company was given to us by Jesus, so I would be remiss not to start there. This was ingrained in me by my parents growing up so I have to give them credit as well. As far as specific business knowledge and mentoring goes I think of John Maxwell and Gary, the CEO of the sales/marketing organization where I cut my teeth. Gary’s number one piece of advice for succeeding in business is to do what you say you are going to do, which has always stuck with me. Lastly, I want to give a shoutout to our excellent technicians, office staff and clients at Protectus, who make all this possible!
