We had the good fortune of connecting with Christina Caster and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Christina, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I grew up doing musical theater and acting was always something I did for fun throughout my childhood. I continued down that path while at the same time my husband was producing films. My dream was to be working on creative projects with him.
After we had kids of our own we were inspired by the idea of creating a live action children’s TV show that would encourage creativity and wonder. A show crafted for the whole family to enjoy. What started as discussions and test filming in my in-laws garage eventually would become a full blown production bringing our dreams to life.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I, along with my husband, brother-in-law and incredible team are currently creating Season 2 of Gus Plus Us, a children’s show for the entire family. It’s so exciting to watch the characters we have created come to life on the screen. The show is based around three characters, Gus, Karrot, and Lucy who go on whimsical adventures, marveling and learning all the time. We put our heads together to write the show, come up with themes, concepts and what the set could look like, bringing in as many handcrafted elements as we can. Our goal is to inspire with our visuals and connect with our audience through engaging story. The greatest compliment is hearing about kids and their families enjoying it.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I get to work alongside my husband Nick which is fitting since we are a family creating a show for families. He is full of vision, creativity and care for every tiny detail which brings the show to life. In short, he is invaluable. He not only puppeteers Gus, but also voices Karrot, built many of the set pieces for Season 1, and communicates vision for every detail, co-produces the music, and so much more. I am so proud and thankful for his work.
