We had the good fortune of connecting with Christina Campbell and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Christina, every day, we about how much execution matters, but we think ideas matter as well. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
The idea of my business started when I left to work in NYC in 2020 during the COVID-19 Pandemic. I actually filed for my LLC application while in NYC. Being there made me realize that I needed to pursue my dreams. Life is short and there will never be the right time. I started it there all while working 12-14 hours, 7 days a week.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I have been a nurse for over 11 years. This journey started with me receiving my Associates Degree in nursing in 2011. I worked in ICU for a year, then I transitioned to outpatient care working exclusively with HIV patients. I knew I wanted to get my bachelor’s degree in nursing. I enrolled in UT Arlington in 2012. During the time I was finishing up my BSN, I worked in several different areas as a nurse. I did nursing informatics, home health, and long term acute care, amongst many other areas. In 2014 I moved to Dallas, TX and enrolled in Tennessee State University to earn a Master of Science degree in nursing as a Family Nurse Practitioner. I graduated in 2018 with that degree. I immediately found it very challenging to find fulltime work as a NP, and when I did, it was paying at the rate I would make as a RN. Although my degree and license allows me to diagnose and treat patients, there are huge restrictions in the state of Texas when it comes to a NP practicing. I decided that I wanted to be my own boss. I knew the journey would be long and hard. I created my company name in 2020. From 2020 until now, I have been preparing to open my Med Spa. How I overcame challenges was to never listen to the naysayers. There will be plenty of people who will try to place their own fears and insecurities on you. I knew I wanted to own a Med Spa and I was willing to put in the work. I knew it would be a marathon and not a race. God has opened doors for me I never would have imagined, including being in this magazine. What I would like the world to know about my brand and my story is that I am here and open for business. This is my passion. I take pride in what I do. My whole purpose is to help bring out the best version of you. My slogan is minimize age maximize beauty. I want you to look good and feel good. What make me different is that I chose this as my career because I love to make people happy and feel good about themselves. It’s not about the money for me. I am not here to give or recommend unnecessary services. Me being able to make money doing something I love is definitely a bonus. I am most proud of being a minority Nurse Practitioner and in a field where we often don’t see people who look like me.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would stop by XOXO Dallas for drinks. Saturday I would hit up Deep Elum and for Sunday Funday, Lava Cantina. We would for Brunch that week hit up Kitchen and Cocktails.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to shoutout Neowell. Getting into the aesthetics field is not an easy process, and then opening a Med Spa as a Nurse Practitioner in Texas is a more complicated process. Neowell, has been a tremendous resource during this process.
