We had the good fortune of connecting with Christian Reinecke and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Christian, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I started freelancing about 12 years ago. I was just growing my career and things weren’t progressing at a very fast rate, so in my impatience, I started taking on clients, as a way of challenging myself to develop new skills, and change the way I think about business and problem-solving. Once I had a few wins behind me, I started looking into what it would take to turn my side-hustle into a business. About 5 years later, the right opportunity presented itself, and I found clients and defined my service offering. Now, I am proud to specialize in branding services for mid-sized businesses preparing for growth.
What should our readers know about your business?
Reinecke Design is a dedicated brand design agency located in Denton, TX. Established in 2016, out of the belief that businesses should expect more from their creative services. It began with a deep respect for small business, a background in Graphic Design, and the philosophy that “Design is the act of creating with purpose, on purpose.” Through Reinecke Design, I offer a range of services, from marketing, design, and copywriting, to print and apparel production, and even workflow management.
I am proud to have won a number of industry awards for my brand work in recent years, and am especially proud of the relationship of trust that has been developed with my clients, to achieve those results.
Some of the most important lessons I’ve learned in business are the things that I teach my clients everyday: The importance of knowing your market, of communicating clearly, and of establishing yourself as a trusted authority. Sometimes it can be challenging to self-promote. We all think of someone who was off-putting in their approach to promotion. However, having the confidence to say “I can help you solve a problem,” is healthy, genuine, and likely to be met with respect.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
As a Denton local, I would show an outsider around the city square, shop recycled books, the DIME store, and the Denton Community Market. Then, we’d order brisket nachose at LSA Burger, and go catch a film at Alamo Drafthouse.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to thank my wife, Bethany, for being my support system throughout a constantly-shifting business landscape. Something that isn’t discussed enough around the topic of entrepreneurship, is the wide swings between successes and losses, and how frequently they occur. I’m grateful for her patience with me, when I am overly-optimistic, or defeated. She keeps me grounded in reality and gives me the will to give my full efforts into making this business a success.
