We had the good fortune of connecting with Chrisheena Williamson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Chrisheena, how does your business help the community?
II looked at the industry that I’m in and I didn’t see many faces like mine and that motivated me. think representation in any area of business is important especially as a black woman, One of the core reasons I started my business was to first build something I could be proud of and be an example for my nieces, nephew, and others in my community. Secondly in my sector of business, I didn’t see many faces like mine so it made me want to push forward and be that familiar face that my clients could connect with.
What should our readers know about your business?
Will 2 Be Tanning was started with the intention to provide diversity, empowerment, and aiding in the health and beauty space of the bodybuilding and tanning world. We assist in providing flawless contest tans, sunless tans, and education on skin prep and health.
I think the biggest challenge that I’ve faced so far is just getting over the hump of believing in myself and my dream. Self-doubt has killed many dreams and ideas. The key to overcoming that is letting go of the fear and knowing it’s ok to fail. With failure comes experience and with more experience, eventually comes success.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’ve lived in the DFW area for almost ten years and there are still parts of the Metroplex that are foreign to me. I say that meaning there are a lot of hidden gems in DFW. I would first take her to breakfast at Honey Berry in North Dallas because we love pancakes, go on a sightseeing tour with Fun Dallas Tours, lunch at The Island Spot in Carrolton, dinner at Catbird, and then live music at Sandaga Dallas.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
We are nothing without those around us who support us when no one else would. For me, that’s my family, best friends, and mentors. My family and faith have and will always be my rock and foundation in any avenue I pursue. There are two women that I would love to highlight who helped so far in my journey has been LaKenya Barnes of Get Flawless Hair & Makeup and Lisa Ramsey of Bella Glam. They have been great examples of what running a successful business as a minority woman can look like.
