Meet Chika

We had the good fortune of connecting with Chika and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Chika, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I see risk as a necessary part of growth, personally and professionally. To me, taking risks isn’t about being reckless; it’s about betting on yourself, even when the outcome isn’t guaranteed. Some of the biggest turning points in my life came from moments where I chose to move forward despite fear or uncertainty.
Whether it was stepping out of my comfort zone to launch a business, leaving behind the familiar to pursue purpose, or speaking up in rooms where I was the only one who looked like me—I’ve learned that every risk carries the possibility of reward, but more importantly, the potential for self-discovery. Each time I’ve taken a risk, I’ve gained something: resilience, clarity, experience, or confidence.
In my career, risk has been the bridge between where I was and where I felt called to be. It’s never been easy, but it’s always been worth it.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My professional journey has been anything but linear, but every step has led me to where I am now—helping people unlock real opportunities through travel, entrepreneurship, and digital freedom. By trade, I’m a registered nurse, but I’ve expanded beyond the bedside to become a part of a global brand that’s focused on helping people create income, impact, and a more fulfilling life through the travel industry.
I’m most proud of the lives I’ve been able to touch—whether it’s helping someone see the world for the first time, guiding them in starting their own travel business, or simply speaking life into them when they needed it most. What sets me apart is my ability to connect with people from all walks of life and meet them where they are. I’m not here to sell a dream—I’m here to help people believe in what’s possible.
It hasn’t been easy. Balancing my nursing career, motherhood, and entrepreneurship has taken a lot of discipline, faith, and personal growth. But I’ve learned that you don’t have to wait until life slows down to chase something meaningful. You can build as you go, learn as you grow, and still live a life full of purpose and joy.
What I want the world to know about me and my story is this: I’m passionate about unlocking doors for others. Whether it’s through travel, sharing knowledge, or simply offering encouragement, I believe that when one person says yes to a new opportunity, it can shift everything. I’m living proof of that—and now I’m helping others do the same.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend came to visit, I’d make sure they experienced the perfect balance of relaxation, exploration, and unforgettable vibes. I love curating experiences that feel intentional, so here’s what our week would look like:
Day 1 – Welcome + Chill Vibes
We’d kick things off with dinner at Sixty Vines in Uptown Dallas. The food is amazing, the wine-on-tap experience is unmatched, and the cozy, yet elevated atmosphere sets the tone for the week. After dinner, we’d visit a rooftop lounge like Sky Blossom for city views, light bites, and a relaxing start to the trip.
Day 2 – Culture + Curiosity
We’d spend the day exploring the Perot Museum of Nature and Science—one of my favorite places for immersive exhibits and inspiring experiences. After that, we’d head to Klyde Warren Park for a laid-back afternoon with food trucks, skyline views, and people-watching.
Day 3 – Reset + Rejuvenate
This would be our wellness day at WorldSprings in Grandscape. With 46 globally inspired mineral pools and saunas, it’s truly an oasis in Texas. We’d spend the day soaking, unwinding, and sipping infused water. Dinner would be steps away at Seven Doors Kitchen & Cocktails, offering delicious food in a stylish setting.
Day 4 – Explore + Express
We’d dive into the artsy energy of Deep Ellum, checking out murals, small galleries, and unique boutiques. That evening, we’d head to XOXO Dining Room—not just for the food, but for the fun, flirty, and photo-worthy atmosphere. It’s definitely a whole vibe.
Day 5 – Shopping + Socializing
We’d spend the day in Legacy West—perfect for shopping, people-watching, and indulging in a little retail therapy. We’d grab dinner at Moxie’s or Haywire, depending on the mood, and possibly wind down the evening with a rooftop lounge for sunset views and good conversation.
Day 6 – Nature + Sunset Vibes
We’d start with a casual walk around Arbor Hills Nature Preserve in Plano for some fresh air and peaceful scenery. Later, we’d head back into the city and enjoy dinner at Sky Blossom Rooftop Bistro for incredible skyline views, great ambiance, and an unforgettable sunset experience.
Day 7 – Soulful Sunday Send-Off
If Day 7 falls on a Sunday, we’d begin the day with a morning church service to recenter and reflect. Afterward, we’d do a farewell brunch at Bread Winners Café or revisit Sixty Vines (because yes—it’s that good). Then it’s off to the airport, full of memories and good energy.
There are truly so many things and places to experience in the Dallas area—from hidden gems to elevated outings. Whether you’re into food, culture, wellness, or just a good rooftop view, the city offers something for every kind of traveler. I don’t just aim to show people around—I want them to feel something real while they’re here.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
If I can be completely honest, my shoutout goes to the people who truly show up for me. Whether it’s attending an event, jumping on a call to offer encouragement, or simply saying, “You’d be perfect for this” those moments of support mean everything. It’s the people who give me opportunities and believe in what I bring to the table that I’m most grateful for.
I also have to acknowledge my small but mighty village. They’re the ones who make it possible for me to be present, stay grounded, and show up fully in all the spaces I’m called to. Their love and support are the quiet strength behind everything I do.
