We had the good fortune of connecting with Chelsea Williams and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Chelsea, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I worked at a photography studio through high school, editing photos and culling images. When I got pregnant with my first son years later I wanted to stay home with him. I got a camera for Christmas that year and started taking pictures and classes and just took off from there.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
What sets me a part from other photographers is that I am a motherhood photographer. I want to help moms see their purpose and beauty. To uplift them during hard times of child bearing and let them know they are not alone. To give them heirlooms they can treasure of some of their greatest moments that are so hard to remember because of their sleep deprived and busy days. Every mother has a purpose and a legacy they are one day going to leave behind. My job is to make sure their memory and everything they created doesn’t fade away. I love helping new mamas especially but it always makes me think of the song, “we’re all in this together, everyone” Because I was taught it takes a village to raise a little one and I want to be a strong character of support for moms out there.
I got where I am right now because I wanted to be a mom. A stay at home mom. I quit my teaching job to be able to stay at home with my first born and that is where photography came into play.
It was easy at first because I didn’t know what I was doing lol. I wasn’t running by business like a business, it was a hobby. But there is so much more to photography than just “snapping pictures” and editing. You have to know how to set up a website, and keep books of income and expenses. You have to pay taxes and account for everything through out the whole year. You have to have insurance and the right equipment and classes and support. It’s way more than I bargained for honestly and it’s taken me 11 years, to find my name, find my brand, find my meaning and purpose for what I do. But I really found that this year! It started with a photography name change in January 2020, the year the whole world literally changed. I felt like A Bit of Wonder encompassed everything we wonder about with our children, who they will be, what are their personalities going to be like, what kind of hair will they have…I wanted something that reached every stage and age, to be a photographer you could grow with.
I feel like God has really shown me that photography can be calling. In Genesis God created everything. There was nothing and he created it. We are made in the likeness of him, and he’s a creative God, so being a creative artist is definitely a calling. That and my love for helping moms, I feel like my story and brand has really blossomed.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Wow. I am a busy mom of 4 and going out is not really my forte lol. I did just take my best friend to Dallas to XOXO for her birthday and that was a lot of fun and the food was really great!! We used to always hang out in Downtown Fort Worth in our pre-children days. The fountains downtown are fun and now we really enjoy good food and good wine at love Capital Grille.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My husband deserves a shoutout for supporting me and allowing me to quit my teaching salary job to stay at home with my kids and pursue my love for creativity and photography. My mother in law is also one of my biggest supporters! She is always asking me about my latest session and wants to see my sneak previews and themes. She encourages me and lifts me up and helps me to see the gift I’ve been giving.
