Meet Chaunva LeCompte

We had the good fortune of connecting with Chaunva LeCompte and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Chaunva, as a parent, what do you feel is the most meaningful thing you’ve done for them?
The most important thing I’ve done as a parent, in terms of the impact on my children, has been making intentional time to truly be with them. Life is busy and full of responsibilities, but I’ve always tried to slow down and create moments where they know they have my full attention. Whether it’s trips together, one-on-one conversations, or simply being present when they need me, I want them to always feel valued, heard, and deeply loved.
Along with that, I’ve made it a priority to empower them by showing them that they can do anything they set their minds to. I encourage them to dream big and remind them that if they want to run businesses, be self-employed, or carve out their own paths, it’s absolutely possible—because they’ve seen me do it. I want them to carry both the security of my love and the confidence of knowing they are capable of creating the lives they imagine. My saying is “Design a life you love!”

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Photography has been so much more than a career for me—it’s been a calling. What sets me apart is the way I approach my work: I don’t just take pictures, I create experiences. Whether it’s a maternity session, a newborn shoot, or a cake smash, my goal is to make every client feel seen, valued, and celebrated in that exact moment of their journey. I bring not only creativity but also intentionality—every backdrop, gown, prop, or detail in my studio is carefully curated so families walk away with heirloom-quality images that tell their story in a beautiful, timeless way.
I’m most proud of the fact that I’ve built my photography business from the ground up, with persistence, passion, and a lot of faith. It hasn’t always been easy—like any entrepreneur, I’ve faced challenges from learning how to run the business side of things to balancing work with family life. But I’ve learned that challenges aren’t roadblocks; they’re stepping stones. Every obstacle taught me to be resourceful, patient, and resilient.
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that connection matters more than perfection. My clients don’t just come for photos; they come for the experience of feeling cared for and celebrated. That’s what I want the world to know about my brand—at Chaunva LeCompte Photography, it’s not just about images, it’s about creating memories, building relationships, and giving families something they will treasure forever.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend was visiting for a week, I’d definitely make sure they experienced the best mix of fun, food, and local gems!
We’d start the trip in Mansfield with dinner at The Vault, one of my absolute favorites—it’s such a classy spot with incredible food and drinks. From there, we’d head over to Arlington Improv Comedy Club for a night full of laughter because nothing sets the tone for a trip better than great food and great comedy.
During the week, we’d spend some time exploring the heart of Mansfield—checking out the local parks, grabbing coffee at one of our cozy coffee shops, and of course stopping by my studio to show off where the magic happens with my photography. For a little adventure, we’d take a short drive into Fort Worth to explore the Stockyards and enjoy some live music and classic Texas vibes. Dallas would also make the list for a day of shopping, art, and a rooftop dinner with a skyline view.
Evenings would be a mix of good eats and relaxed hangouts—trying local favorites in Mansfield, maybe catching a movie, or just enjoying wine and conversation on the patio. By the end of the week, my goal would be for my best friend to leave feeling like they experienced the perfect mix of small-town charm and big-city energy that makes this area so special.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There are definitely people in my life who deserve huge shoutouts for the role they’ve played in my journey. First and foremost, my husband—he has been my rock through every high and low, encouraging me, supporting my dreams, and being the steady foundation that allows me to keep moving forward. My mother also deserves the biggest recognition for always believing in me and showing me what strength, resilience, and unconditional love look like.
And then my brothers—both of them have been such a big part of my story, always cheering me on, lending advice, and reminding me that family is everything. Their encouragement and support have been priceless.
I wouldn’t be who I am today without the love, guidance, and example of my husband, my mom, and my brothers. They’ve each played a part in giving me the confidence to pursue my passions and build the life I have today.
