We had the good fortune of connecting with Chastity Escalante and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Chastity, how do you think about risk?
Risk can be tricky because as a new business owner, there are some risks that seem to have a high potential for gain. I try to remind myself that while I’m looking to benefit and grow as much as possible, not all risks are worth it especially if they include compromising my personal time and self care. I firmly believe that your business is as healthy you are, so it’s important to seriously weigh what risks you are taking and ensure that they don’t demote who you are personally, even if briefly.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Many don’t know this, but I also work a full-time career at a hospital in Dallas, Texas. I have had to learn to balance my career along with ChasCooks in order to make sure that I have been able to devote all of my self into both avenues of my life, while also taking care of myself personally. At first it was not an easy feat, but with time and support I was able to learn how to face the challenges of balancing my time between the two. One lesson I learned along the way is that I know what makes me happy and what doesn’t. My professional career and ChasCooks both make me happy, so I continue to do more to excel in both areas as much as possible.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
One of my favorite places to eat and drink as of late is Moxie’s and Parliament. And because it’s Texas, I of course have to suggest my favorite taco spot – La Paisanita (located in the medical district). When I’m looking for more outdoorsy type of things, Katy Trail, White Rock Lake and the arboretum are always fun to go to. The DMA and graffiti park are also some fun places to visit.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
The main people that deserve recognition are each of the people who have supported my business, especially those who order food from me. Each person who has ordered a meal, shared a post of mine, or told another person about ChasCooks is more than appreciated by me.
