Meet Charlie SeaEss” Schafer | Music Producer”

We had the good fortune of connecting with Charlie “SeaEss” Schafer and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Charlie “SeaEss”, do you have any habits that you feel contribute to your effectiveness?
I feel success is a fickle thing. i feel far from anything like I could call success. but anytime i’ve felt a sense of it has come from simply “showing up”. Creative work is hard and defeating sometimes. It’s natural to feel like your work never measures up to your inspirations. There isn’t a formula for “if you do ‘x’, you’ll get ‘y’ result”. the only thing you can practice is sitting down and working on your craft again and again again. and NEVER see not coming up with something (whether its a song idea, a painting, a screenplay, photo etc.) as a loss. every effort to “show up” is a small win and investment for your future.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Doing creative work feels like making investments. You don’t know when or if you’ll ever get a return. I was working a coffee job for 6 years after I knew I wanted to do music for a living. But like alot of people, you just don’t think you can do it. Due to some dark life events, I left my coffee job in 2019. at the time, I had done a few things here and there to make money through music but not much. I didn’t have anything lined up when I left my job but sure enough, JUST enough work started coming in to provide for myself financially. Through word of mouth, doors started opening up for more and more jobs and networking. It really is a God thing.
I get the “set you apart” aspect about job and competition but that’s never really bothered me. It’s so tiring to see others as a threat. You get to make art for a living! Celebrate others. It’s more life giving and fun that way. I’ve never known what sets me apart and honestly don’t really care to know.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If you could imagine a typical 50 something suburbian adult inside a 20 something’s body, thats me hahaha I’m definitely not the “best time ever” guy. If I have good food, good drinks, and a good environment, I’m a happy camper. I love making fires, having a cigar. Watching movies. I’m a home body so i would probably host things at the house.
If I’m going out, I’m a fan of Ramen and anywhere that has a good beer selection or bourbon selection.
Cat Bird, Earl’s, Ten Ramen, Kura Sushi all are favorites.
Also…. LOVE roaming around Target. Like I said suburbian…

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
God. For all the things I could be doing in life, I ended up here. doing creative work. making music. I was an athlete for 12 years and suddenly started playing music one day. I attribute that to divine appointment.
