We had the good fortune of connecting with Charity Anthony and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Charity, let’s start by talking about what inspires you?
My inspiration comes from many different avenues. From scenery to music to people to architecture. I believe I can pull inspiration from anywhere and integrate the inspiration and an idea to bring a vision into fruition. Inspiration should always be an open source to receive, the results are limitless when you allow yourself to keep can be inspired beyond what you know or what you are used to.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Art to me is simply an concept that expands into multiple avenues. I have taken time in many different forms of art over my life and now I am back into the field of fashion design as a fiber art. I am artist with synesthesia. More closely when I listen to music I “see” or “hear” colors with the context of that song and I develop a lot of my ideas and inspiration from this state. The colors and ideas inspire my designs and color ways in my work. I also take time to view the arts of others that I may be able to integrate an idea with that inspiration and form something completely unique. Growing professionally has been a journey and still is. I have not always been the most extroverted or outward about my art, but knowing that I have developed an appreciation for what create drives me to share with others. I’ve learn along that art is unique to you and from your perspective you create and what’s amazing about sharing your art is that others have the ability to appreciate from their perspective. Art isn’t simple, it is not confined, it’s limitless. I’ve also learned to value qualities that reflect my daily life to channel for my mental health as I have struggled with depression and anxiety. Art has taught me how to be patient, have grace in the mistakes, always try again, and it’s okay to fall out of love with it sometimes, but you can always fall back in love with it again. I am a big advocate for mental health and integrating art to help with today’s society. I hope to integrate the two together through different mediums for all types of people in the future.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I am still adjusting to Texas myself as I relocated here almost two years ago. I have a lot to explore, but I would definitely recommend trying something you’ve never did before. I would check out Mexican Sugar for a nice brunch. Vidorra for nice dinner. If visiting during the fall, I would definitely hit the Texas State Fair. Give the Farmer’s Market a go. If you’re looking to try something new, I’d highly suggest a painting class, cooking class at Eataly, pottery class, cocktail making class, or candle making! I’m looking to check out a cheesecake making class at Val’s Cheesecake soon!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I dedicate my devotion to this journey to God first and foremost. My success is nothing without my faith in God. I’m also blessed to have a wonderful support team from my family to my closest friends. Knowing that I have a team that pours into my dreams gives me confidence to invest and return to bless them back for all of the encouragement, love and support.
