We had the good fortune of connecting with Chanley Wickboldt President and Founder of East Dallas Kitty Club and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Chanley Wickboldt, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I had assisted in the revitalization of another Dallas animal rescue, and decided that I wanted to devote my energy and dedication into something that was my own. Animal rescue has brought so much joy to my life, but it came with limitations working for someone else. Creating my own feline focused rescue has given me the opportunity to do things that I had only dreamed about with the other rescue.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
When I moved into the East Dallas area, I quickly realized that there was a sense of pride among my neighbors and community to live in East Dallas. When I was considering names for our nonprofit rescue, I wanted to really incorporate that sense of community pride in the name and certain aspects of the rescue. While we do not have a physical location for our rescue, we have an amazing team of fosters who primarily reside in East Dallas and utilize our local PetSmart for adoption events. Our adopters primarily come from social media networking focused on East Dallas forums, and our amazing veterinarian is also located in East Dallas. Putting our faith in the East Dallas community has truly helped our rescue thrive to be what it is today.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Due to the limitations of COVID, this question is a bit difficult to answer. However, some of my favorite breakfast spots include Hypnotic Doughnut, Cultivar Coffee, Halcyon, and Unleavened Fresh Kitchen. For lunch and dinner spots, I love Tacos La Banqueta, El Vecino, Wabi House, Good Friends Beer Garden & Burger House, to name a few. Fun things to do would be to go to the dog park at White Rock Lake, walk around the Dallas Arboretum, visit the Perot Museum, visit the Dallas Museum of Art, and walk around Klyde Warren Park. A little further out in Garland, I HAVE to mention Intrinsic Brewery and Piefalootin because both establishments are AMAZING. The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
East Dallas Kitty Club would not be where it is today without my amazing team of fosters and donors. The incredible community of East Dallas has truly supported our mission as well, and have been so receptive to our assistance in the community. We recently partnered with PetSmart Charities, and have been holding adoption events with our local PetSmart as well. Lastly, I could not have done all of this without the love and support of my very patient husband, friends, and family.

Absolutely wonderful organization with very loving pet parents who foster. Chanley is a godess. Thank you to her for all her hard work on behalf of our two new babies.
