We had the good fortune of connecting with Chandler Thomas and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Chandler, putting aside the decision to work for yourself, what other decisions were critical to your success?
My relationship with Jesus is the most important thing to me and any success I have gained in this life is because of Him. Choosing to follow Jesus has been the best decision I have ever made!
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Growing up, my parents noticed I had an eye for photography and I really started to take interest in it. My parents are entrepreneurs and I think the entrepreneurial mindset was passed down to me at an early age. In middle school, my great-great uncle gave me one of his old cameras and, what was once just a hobby, quickly turned into 10 years of the best job ever!
I am super close with my family and we love spending time together. During our family time, I remember wishing that I could freeze the moments we spent together because they were (and still are) so precious to me! This is where photography came into play. Although I’m not able to freeze time, I love that photography gives me the ability to capture precious moments that turn into cherished memories. And the fact that I get to offer that to so many people brings me so much joy!
I was born and raised in Mississippi, so, naturally, that’s where my photography business started. One of the most challenging times for my business was when I decided to move from Mississippi to Dallas, Texas in 2020. In a lot of ways, it really felt like I had to start from the ground up in building a clientele here in TX. Although there were days I felt discouraged and felt like I would never be able to rebuild, I am thankful to say that through a lot of prayer, hard work, and determination, I am starting to see the Lord provide me with a clientele here in Dallas. I am so, so grateful.
Whether it’s capturing the excitement and anticipation of a senior year, the joy of a newborn, or the love shared among family members, I count it such a blessing from the Lord to be invited into the lives of individuals and families to help create memories that will last a lifetime!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Restaurants and desserts are always my go-to! Some of my favorite restaurants are: Texas Restaurant, The Henry, Hudson House, Rodeo Goat, East Hampton Co., and my favorite place for dessert is Andy’s Frozen Custard!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to give a shoutout to my amazing husband, Bo Thomas! He is a huge help in running my photography business and I’m so grateful for the way he genuinely cares about the things I care about. Last year I went through a business rebrand and the way he took time to listen to my thoughts, share his honest opinion, and support me throughout the process meant so much to me. He always gets excited when I share my dreams with him and he encourages me to pursue them wholeheartedly. He is my best friend in the whole world and truly is one of a kind!
