We had the good fortune of connecting with Chadae Sauls and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Chadae, what do you attribute your success to?
My son, being a mom is the best thing God has truly blessed me with, he is the most important factor behind my success. I have always been the type of person to go after my dreams and goals in life, but somewhere along the way during my journey I got distracted and lost from what was important. Becoming a mom has really opened my eyes, I never want my son to see me give up, I want him to know that in life we have to work hard for the things we want, but it’s all going to be worth it no matter what. Everyday I push my self more and more doing everything I can to make sure my business is successful and knowing my son is watching me gives me even more motivation to keep striving for the dream that I already know God has in store for me.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
After I graduated from Prairie View A&M University I just knew I would do something either in the criminal justice or communication field, but God had other plans for me. My bestfriend pointed out to me that I loved everything the beauty industry had to offer so I should think about doing something in beauty. Honestly at first I wasn’t sure, but when I thought about it she was right. It took me about a year before I made the decision to go to makeup school, and by the time I was ready I became pregnant. I had friends and family tell me I wouldn’t be able to work full time, go to school and be pregnant. It was almost as if they thought I wouldn’t be able to succeed and accomplished my dreams once my son was here. Well I proved everyone wrong who had doubts. I went to makeup school and graduated 8 days before I had my son. I was determined to become a professional makeup artist. As time passed, I decided I wanted my license in lashes, so I went to school part time while working a full time job and raising a baby, but I graduated and received my license in lash extensions. With each step I take towards my dreams I’ve learned there will always be someone who has doubts or who will try and say it’s not possible, but I refused to let other people’s opinions of me have say so as to how I choose to live my life. As time progressed my dad gave me the idea to start my own cosmetic line and at first I was saying no to the idea because it seemed as if it was going to be to much work while raising a son, working a full time job and already taking clients. My life seemed full and crazy enough. The idea of my own cosmetic line wouldn’t leave my head so I began to do a little research and the more I researched the more intrigued I was with the idea. I began to figure out how to make my own products because I wanted products that would be healthy for the skin while providing a natural glow. Before I knew it my cosmetic line was up and running by July 20, 2020. Every decision I made in life was for a reason, every obstacle that was placed in front of me was there to make me stronger. There have been plenty of times I wanted to give up and walk away because I would let doubt creep into my head, but I had to remind myself that every thing I’m working towards with making my business successful has a purpose. I have been running my business full time ever since my job let me go and instead of looking for a new job I took the risk and went forward with running my business full time. My clientele for makeup and lashes has increased and I’m getting more sales in for my cosmetic line that I even became a wholesale vendor for people interested in starting their own lipgloss business. With my business growing I want to start doing more for my community and start giving back. I just recently hosted my first pop up shop in Dallas and I had 30 vendors and the Dallas community really came out to support all my vendors. After seeing how my first pop up went and seeing how I was able to bring the community together for something positive, I decided that I will plan pop up shops more often along with other events for the community. My goal is to have my business touch lives from all over but that starts within my community first. What sets me apart is not only am I a professional makeup artist and licensed lash specialist, I run a cosmetic line where all my products are made with natural ingredients and I make each product by hand, but I also host events that bring the community together so we can become united over something positive.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my bestfriend was to stay with me for a whole week, knowing us we are definitely going out to eat at some of the popular restaurants. Places like True Kitchen & Kocktails, Cheesecake Factory, XOXO Dining Room and so much more. I have been wanting to take her to Klyde Warren Park so she can see all the food trucks and see everyone enjoying themselves. Indoor skydiving would be on the list along with ice skating. We will also take a day to relax and binge watch a show on Netflix and spend time with my son. We would also take my son to a trampoline park and have fun with him and of course I can’t forget about going shopping.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would first like to give the biggest shoutout to God, because without him none of this would be possible. I would also like to give a shoutout to my parents, who are my biggest supporters even when we don’t always seem eye to eye. My bestfriend Adawndra, I couldn’t ask for a better friend/sister than you. You made sure I was on top of everything when it came to my business along with being at ever event with me . Thank You for staying on the phone with me for hours until everything was perfect for my business and no matter what thank you for always being there for me. Thank You to my two sisters Alana and Danielle and my cousins Alexis and Alaya, y’all are the best team anyone could ask for. When I needed models or people to help with my business I could always count on you all. And of course thank you to my son, momma loves you so much and I appreciate you more than you will ever know.
