We had the good fortune of connecting with Celina Fierro and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Celina, why did you pursue a creative career?
I was always very artistic as a kid. I loved to draw and color. One day a friend of mine asked if I could do her makeup. She loved the way I did it on myself. After that her family would ask me to do it for special occasions and would pay me. Word started to spread and I realized that this was my calling. I go into limbo and just let my hands do the work. It’s a passion for me. I also love making people feel empowered through my art.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
One thing that sets me apart from the rest is I’m after the art not the followers. I feel people in the beauty industry are shifting away from the passion of the art and just want to be known. I don’t care if I have 20 followers or 20 thousand. As long as I have people who support me and allow me to show them my art that’s all I need. I’ve had a few proud moments. My work was featured in North Texas Wedding magazine, I’ve done makeup for the Dallas Cowboys rhythm and blue, I worked with the Gaylord to do makeup for their commercials and photo shoots, and have even been flown out to different states for weddings. Being a makeup artist hasn’t always been easy. There’s times when business slows down. It’s also hard when new upcoming artist set their prices really low. I set my prices based on my experience and talent. Many do it to get a quick buck. I just had to have faith in God that everything will turn out okay. I want the world to know that when you sit in my chair you’re going to feel beautiful and you can talk to me about anything. My clients have vented to me or asked for advice and just know your secrets are safe with me.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
One of my favorite places to go to brunch has to be RH rooftop in Dallas. It’s so beautiful inside and out. It has a beautiful view and the food is great. If the cowboys are playing we go to Texas Live for drinks and a good time. Mi Cocina and Gloria’s are some amazing places too! For good Tex Mex I drive to Kennedale for Carmen’s Tex-Mex. It’s a food truck with some amazing food! If I want to sit outside and enjoy the breeze with some friends and good food, I go to Taco Suave in Waxahachie. All these places are instagram worthy!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My biggest motivators are my 3 kids. I started doing hair and makeup in 2012, when my son Jordan was a few months old. The following year I had my daughter Jocelyn. Being a stay at home mom I needed to pursue something I enjoy and also gives me the freedom to make my own schedule. 2022 I fell pregnant with my second daughter Aubrey and I knew I had to do more. I started esthetician school to add facials and waxing to my services. I really want to be someone my kids are proud to call mom. I want to be someone who motivates them to be more in life.
