We had the good fortune of connecting with Celeste Romero and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Celeste, any advice for those thinking about whether to keep going or to give up?
I think everyone in life has stumbled across a situation where you don’t know whether to keep going or to give up. Throughout my 23 years of life, I definitely had situations where I wanted to give up and drop everything. Giving up to me is an ‘easy way out’ and some people go that route first rather than pushing themselves a little more harder. Even if you fail at something I don’t think it means to give up right away. If you have a goal you want to accomplish, it’s never going to be a straight shot to it. There’s going to be ups and downs, but that’s the best part because during that process is where you learn and grow as a person for the better. You live and you learn. Giving up should never be the first option, but if it comes down to giving up after you tried your hardest then it is okay. Maybe that just means you need to have a different approach and redirect yourself. You might be giving up on the tactic, but not the end goal and that’s what matters.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Becoming a Brow Artist has been a very fun journey. I’m in the beginning stages of my small business, however, it’s been great so far. Before starting, I always had doubts and fear that I wouldn’t get any clientele and I would fail. However, this past March one day I decided it was enough and stopped thinking about the ‘what ifs’ and just did it. I stopped living in fear because then I wouldn’t be able to move forward. I also changed my mindset and started thinking positive which made me feel better about putting my business out there. At the moment, my business is all about brow lamination and tint, but in the future I may want to add other services and eyebrow products to sell. So far I’ve had a good amount of clients and I’ll be having my grand opening July 16th of this year. I’m ready to leave my 8-4 job and pursue this business full time because it’s what I love to do. I’m so excited to see what the future has in store for me and my business.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
The first place I’d take my best friend out is to Pluckers Wing Bar because who doesn’t love wings and the cool thing about Pluckers is they it’s only available here in Texas. It’s my favorite spot and I always recommend it to everyone. After we are full and satisfied, we’d go check out a Zombie VR experience. I recently went to one for the first time and I think everyone needs to try this out. It was really fun and interesting how real it feels like if you were there. On another day, I would take my best friend out for brunch. Probably would be one of those drag brunches because we always said we’d like to go to one, so it would be a great experience and to check off our bucket list. I hear there’s some nice ones here in Dallas. Another activity I would take my best friend is to Milk and Cream which is a dessert place where you can put ice cream in between donuts and eat it like a sandwhich. I would also want my best friend to hang out with my family and other friends to get to know each other too.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I wouldn’t have began my small beauty business if it wasn’t for the support of my boyfriend and friends. They always pushed me into starting my eyebrow business. My boyfriend actually bought me my first round of supplies to motivate me into starting my business. I also want to thank another Brow Artist here in the DFW whose name on Instagram is @caffeinatedbrows who guided me in the beginning of this journey. There are some people who don’t want to help others succeed, but she was very giving and helpful to me. I may not have the biggest following, but I truly am thankful for everyone who has supported me so far and clients who trust me to work on their eyebrows. It is honestly a great satisfaction when they fall in love with their new pair of brows. This is why I keep going and stay motivated.
