Meet Catherine Tobleman | Creative Director & Owner

We had the good fortune of connecting with Catherine Tobleman and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Catherine, any advice for those thinking about whether to keep going or to give up?
As a wedding florist, deciding whether to keep going or give up comes down to passion and purpose. When I started Catherine Huynh Design in 2021, I was a nursing student with no floral experience, diving into an industry I barely knew because I fell in love with the creativity of florals. There were moments of doubt—learning the ropes, managing tough logistics or balancing long hours. But every time I saw a couple’s face light up at their wedding, surrounded by our romantic, garden-style designs, I knew I had to keep going. Becoming a mom this year shifted my perspective even more. It taught me to focus on what truly matters—creating meaningful moments for my clients and my family. I keep going because I’m passionate about crafting bespoke experiences for couples, whether here in Dallas or for destination weddings worldwide.

What should our readers know about your business?
Catherine Huynh Design is a floral design studio based in Dallas, Texas, specializing in bespoke wedding florals for couples who value intentional design and emotional storytelling. Every wedding we design is tailored to the couple—not just in color or flowers, but in the feeling we aim to evoke. Our style blends romantic, garden-inspired arrangements with a refined, modern edge. What sets us apart is our ability to marry artistry with personalization, creating florals that truly reflect who our clients are.
I’m most proud of how much the business has grown—not just financially, but in clarity and confidence. I started with no formal floral training, just a gut feeling that I was meant to do something creative. I left nursing school behind, took a risk, and immersed myself in the world of weddings. I learned everything from scratch by working under seasoned designers and absorbing every detail I could.
It was far from easy. I wore every hat—designer, salesperson, delivery driver, and everything in between. There were sleepless nights, mistakes that felt huge in the moment, and times I questioned whether I could really make this work. But with every challenge came growth. I learned how to be scrappy, how to listen to clients, and how to lead with heart without losing my boundaries.
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that success isn’t just about talent—it’s about resilience, authenticity, and connection. I used to think I had to say yes to everything to succeed. But now I know the real magic happens when you work with the right people, the ones who trust your vision and value your work.
I want the world to know that Catherine Huynh Design is more than just a business—it’s a reflection of the people I serve and the values I hold dear: creativity, intention, and beauty rooted in meaning. I’m excited to continue growing, to serve more high-end and destination clients, and to bring this little Dallas-based dream to couples all over the world.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend came to visit, I’d want their week here to feel slow, cozy, and full of intention — just like the floral experiences I create. I love showing people the beauty in small details, and Dallas (and the surrounding areas) have so many hidden gems that do just that
Day 1 – Welcome Vibes in Bishop Arts
We’d kick things off with lunch at Written by the Seasons, followed by strolling through Bishop Arts District to visit local boutiques and curated home goods stores. Of course, we’d stop by Emporium Pies and grab a slice. Mellow Yellow is my current favorite. The It’s the perfect intro to the creative heartbeat of Dallas. For dinner we would eat at Beto and Son’s their table side guac is amazing. Plus you get a wonderful view of the Dallas Skyline.
Day 2 – Nature & Coffee Pairing
We’d start our day with breakfast at Goodfriend Package, a neighborhood gem that serves some of the best breakfast in Dallas. After fueling up, we’d grab Cultivar Coffee, their quality and vibes never miss. Then we’d head to the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden to take in all the floral inspiration. This is where I really find peace — walking through blooms, seeing how nature arranges color and texture. To end the day, we’d walk around or have a picnic at White Rock Lake. It’s the kind of day that makes you feel grounded and inspired all at once.
Day 3 – Estate Sale Adventures
One of my favorite weekend rituals — we’d check out a few estate sales around Dallas for vintage treasures and décor inspiration. There’s something so grounding about finding character-filled pieces. We’d grab lunch at Wu Wei Din in Plano — comfort food done right, and their dumplings are a must. Then have dessert at Botolino Gelato Artigianale.
Day 4 – Art & Stillness
We’d visit the Dallas Museum of Art and then wander over to the Nasher Sculpture Center. I’d make sure we took our time — it’s not about rushing through, it’s about letting yourself be inspired. Lunch would be at Flower Child, followed by a quiet moment at Interabang Books.
Day 5 – Denton Day Trip
We’d head up to Denton for the day and explore its artsy, small-town charm. Dinner at Osteria Il Muro — a beautiful Italian restaurant with an intimate, old-world feel. It’s one of those places that feels like a secret — cozy and romantic even when you’re with a friend.
Day 6 – Market Finds & Sunset
We’d start the day exploring the Dallas Farmers Market or a local flea market if one’s happening — it’s always fun to hunt for hidden gems, fresh florals, or unique artisan finds. After a laid-back afternoon, we’d head to Naminohana for some of the freshest sashimi around — it’s a hidden gem and never disappoints. To end the day on a sweet note, we’d grab a scoop from Parlor’s Ice Creams and catch the sunset by the lake. It’s the perfect mix of relaxing and refreshing — a peaceful way to wrap up the trip.
Day 7 – Reflect & Recharge
For our final day, we’d start slow with a cozy coffee from Merit Coffee, easing into the morning. Then we’d head to NorthPark Mall for a little retail therapy and to admire the art thoughtfully displayed throughout the space. It’s the perfect spot to people-watch, reflect on the week, and soak it all in before saying our goodbyes.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There are so many people who deserve credit for where I am today. First and foremost, I want to shout out the floral designers and wedding professionals who welcomed me into the industry when I was just starting out. I came in knowing very little, and there were people who saw my potential and were kind enough to teach me the ropes. That kind of mentorship and generosity is something I’ll never forget.
I also want to thank my family—especially my husband—for being my emotional anchor and biggest supporter through all the seasons of this business. Owning a business while becoming a new mom is no easy feat, and their love and belief in me kept me going, even when things felt overwhelming.
Lastly, I’d like to give a little credit to the creative community on Instagram, which is where this whole journey began. One post sparked something in me that changed my entire life—and for that, I’m forever grateful.
