We had the good fortune of connecting with Cat Chickering and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Cat, why did you pursue a creative career?
I have always loved any type of art. Then, I got my first piercing and knew from there and being in the environment, that this is what I wanted to do. Being able to help people decorate their bodies is a true gift.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I have been a piercer for 23 years. Luckily, I have had the privilege to work in great shops and spent the last 19 at Epic Tattoos. Getting into this industry is not easy. It takes persistence, patience, hard work, and a shop to get your foot in the door. I have learned a lot over the years and it has been great to see and be a part of the tattoo and piercing industry. I would really just want people to know that I always put my all into every piercing I do and strive to make every customer proud of their new piercing.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We would definitely go eat some great Indian, Mexican, and vegetarian food. We would probably follow it up with some drinks at our local pub called Danny’s Pub in Bedford. We would probably spend a day in Dallas at the bars on Cedar Springs. Then finish the weekend with a relaxing day at the lake fishing and floating or tubing the river.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
The entire crew new, and old, at the shop I work at, Epic Tattoos has definitely helped me get to where I am today. Along with a supportive spouse and family.
