Meet Casey Muze | Educator, Drummer, and Healer.

We had the good fortune of connecting with Casey Muze and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Casey, do you have a favorite quote or affirmation?
“Those Who Mind Don’t Matter, and Those Who Matter Don’t Mind”. By the favorite Dr Seuss. I keeps me focus and able to avoid negative interactions with people
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I would like to take time and introduce myself as the “Mr. Rogers of Hand Drums” because my main works of creativity has developing this really awesome presentation that provide education on Tx as a past resident of the area and a patron of the arts. I’m what some called the “Mr. Rogers of hand drums”. I provide services that give and teach mental health and intellectual/cognitive development.
There are 2 services founded in rhythmic instruction.
AvenueSpeak is here to show and teach the healing benefits connected to hand drumming and other forms of creative expression. AvenueSpeak has intentionally provided programs to serve individuals with mental/intellectual barriers.
TRAP Learning:TRAP) educates individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities as well as typical young children, by embracing a unique methodology that encompasses rhythm as a modality to address basic life and learning skills as well as reading, writing, and arithmetic. TRAP provides its students with the tools and confidence needed to succeed in the world.
DrumTalk: Communication of emotion has focused primarily on the neural mechanisms of communicating via speech, even though emotion is also communicated through nonverbal modalities ranging from music to body language. As these modalities are often used instead of or in addition to speech, we hypothesize that they offer something unique or supplemental that merits investigation and may have unique clinical application. Generally, emotion research has focused on the unidirectional process of perception or induction (i.e. the brain’s reactivity to emotional stimuli), in large part due to the limitation of conventional neuroimaging modalities to single subjects.
With these programs and many more that include mentorship and writing workshops. This is AvenueSpeak

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Breakers for seafood or maybe Uncle Jacks for that soul seafood, Prime 102 or culture ETX for burgers, DJ marisco’s for the wings, Flor for the tacos. We got to go to Lindale and hit up Brisket Love for BBQ. The people depends on the plan for the week or the interest of the guest

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Since I am filling this out on the day IU lost one of my what I would call “third party mentors” passed away. Mr. Nipsey Hussle. I am not starting a list of people because there is way too many. Though I will give credit to the entire city of Nacogdoches, Tx. This is where I started the journey of entrepreneurship
