We had the good fortune of connecting with Casandra Hashert and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Casandra, can you share a quote or affirmation with us?
I have a million favorite quotes and affirmations actually ha but I’ll share one here: “Doubt kills more dreams than failure ever will.” – Karim Seddiki. It may be cliche, but it doesn’t make it less true!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Singing and playing at venues both near and far keeps me busy, either solo or with my fellow musician friends doing song swaps and the occasional live on the spot jam sessions!. You’ll typically find me with my acoustic guitar and keyboard in tow for solo nights, but when playing with friends, you’ll likely see me on the cajon too.

Even when I’m not giggin’, I’m focusing on my upcoming Nashville adventure, recording my first EP with the amazing Shannon McArthur who’s produced Dashboard Confessional and Adam Duritz to name a few so I’m very excited about that! Otherwise I do my best to keep writing and finding ways to turn my life stories into tunes to share with the world.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would take a Bonham visitor to the lovely Neighbors Place Winery for a yummy slushy wine and charcuterie board before browsing through our many antique stores. Our Creative Arts Center is always worth stopping in, and if the weather permits, both the lake and the state park make beautiful spots for a scenic drive or walk. If it’s a Saturday night, I’d see what (free) live entertainment the Powder Creek Pavilion would be hosting that evening!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’m a single mom of a nearly 3 year old boy named Arrow, who motivates me daily in setting an example for him to follow his own talents and dreams in life. I’d also like to add that so much of what I do musically wouldn’t be possible without the love and support of my parents Laura and David Iwata.
