We had the good fortune of connecting with Carrie Thomas and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Carrie, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Talk is Cheap podcast started after many years and months of me contemplating about starting a platform for mental health awareness. I was thinking of the best idea to spread awareness and get others involved to share their stories or their journey to know that you are not alone in this world. I really felt the need to start the podcast during the start of Covid-19.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Being a social worker in the mental health field, this pandemic has affected not only myself but my clients of the mental health population and other Healthcare workers and my fellow mental health professionals. I knew this podcast during this time would mend the gap between advocating for this population and really relating and understanding what one is experiencing. I also posted many discussions online and the support that I received from people I didn’t know also pushed me to strive harder. I thank my guests that have been on the show so much and my supporters!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Dallas is amazing. My city has a little of everything for everyone. We would definitely eat some good food from Kitchen & Kocktails located in downtown dallas. We can eat upscale by visiting Fogo de Chao for Brazilian steakhouse. As I am vegetarian I still find great places to dine and enjoy myself. We will head up to the colony for race cars and laser tag at Andretti. We can go shopping at North Park or the Galleria. I am a dog mom as well so we can take the dog to Mutts Cantina.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would to shoutout all my fellow Podcasters, mental health professionals and my listeners for their support and encouragement.
