We had the good fortune of connecting with Camryn Bailey and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Camryn, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I started Urban Glimpse in 2016 after having the honor of working on my first major music video Flex Ingrid ft Sevyn Streeter. I decided to pursue P.R. while attending Lamar University; I decided to curate different shows throughout the city. I started with artist showcases featuring local artists, painters, and black businesses. I had about eight events of my own and partnered with different creative brands to bring other events. These events help me establish a name for myself, but I knew I wanted to do more. I was blessed to have the first-hand experience on what the real music business is and how a major label can steal artist talent & not give proper credit. Having this experience drove my focus on Public Relations and curating different events for timeless artists. I want to be a connection between artists and primary media sources. Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
After finding a team that genuinely understood the industry, Urban Glimpse was born a brand that transcends lifestyle and culture. 2020 was one of our most progressive years, having the honor to partner with Roc Nation exec Rel Carter and D’usse cognac to bring Think & Drink weekend to Houston. The event including See Her Empowered Cypher, Think & Drink Workshop, and D’usse Brunch on Sunday. We created this event to shine a light on women in music with the S.H.E cypher and educating artists about the business behind the music with Think & Drink. We had participants such as recently signed 1501 certified Stunna Bam and Kayy Kilo, Martina Marie, Troublsum, and C-red in the weekend. One of our specialties is branding; we’ve been able to work with acts such as Kay Kilo effectively creating a brand campaign leading to her being the first woman signed Billon Dollar Baby ENT. Even; expanding our brand into YouTube, branding influencers such as Pretty Girl Chaz, Houston Twinz, and TimsoFunny. We’ve been blessed to help create stars, and take pride in growing to be the best agency in Houston. We are the brand that transcends lifestyle and culture.Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
A perfect day in Houston would be Sunday Funday. Starting with church in the morning, coming home resting, and preparing for the upcoming week. Once finished, going out for brunch at 5015 bar & grill enjoying the H-town sun with friends. After brunch, going to explore visiting discovery green attending your local farmer market, or just people-watching in the park.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I see myself as an all-around business mogul from P.R. to Real estate. I want to be able to break Houston and bring much-needed attention to the city. We have so much talent. I want to be an inspiration for little girls where I’m from Third Ward, Houston Tx. Everything I’m creating is in honor of my late grandmother Darleen Manuel. She is one reason I’m going so hard right now. I promised her during her last breathes. I would graduate and make a change in our community. I want to make my family proud. Also, I am grateful to have a solid team including Taylor L, Jahnaya P, and Htx Dj Fresh. I wouldn’t be able to do this without them.
