We had the good fortune of connecting with Cameron Swann and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Cameron, what is the most important factor behind your success?
I believe the most important factor behind the success of my brand is the impact that it brings to the mental health community. I say that because Dead Battery is all about mental health awareness and improvement and to see many people say how the brand helped them mentally really warms me. This shows me that Dead Battery is more than just a brand.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My brand originally started from a poem to a YouTube series then to a clothing line. At first, I wasn’t into the clothing business until my friend Bella suggested it so my series can have merchandise. Now, this was not easy because I had to recruit a team and build a name for myself while making shirts with my friends Alex and Azarria. But at the end of the day, I want the world to know of the impact that Dead Battery brings to mental health and keeping your well-being alive.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
In the Dallas area, I would definitely take them to downtown Dallas just to see the scenery of the skyline at night time. We would go to Serious Pizza, which is super good and very slept on. Also going walking at the river walk to see the area as well.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First, I give all praise to God for allowing Dead Battery to be what it is today. Without my Lord and Savior, I don’t know where I would be today. I want to thank my family and my girlfriend for constantly supporting me even when I wanted to give up. Lastly, big thanks to my brand ambassadors, PVAMU, and my fraternity chapter, Delta Theta of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. for always putting the extra support in my brand. Y’all are extremely appreciated.
