We had the good fortune of connecting with Cameera and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Cameera, is there something you can share with us that those outside of the industry might not be aware of?
I think that some people are unaware of is how much work really goes in to the industry. A lot of people think that it’s as simple as creating a song in your bedroom and then posting it and then just praying that it blows up. In this journey, I have learned it has so much more to do with networking and your connections. since I’ve been on this journey, I have traveled to different areas worked with different artists as a songwriter and and it’s a lotta collaborative input that makes a hit song a hit song. That is something that I’m learning is the collaborative part. Getting a team together is very important not saying when one person can’t do it on their own but with a team you can soar you know the term you know the term two heads are better than one that’s the same thing with the team so I’m gonna break it down with what I feel like every artist needs on their team first one artistic Director, a producer songwriter, depending on what you’re doing stage coach for sure vocal coach manager PR person for sure and a engineer. But I believe the most important thing about when building your team is that you have to have people who are believing you as much as you believe in yourself, in this journey of artist and songwriter, what I’ve learned, is different writing styles, and different ways to approach a song like I typically what I did before was I would listen to the beat and then I was just right to it but the missing key element to writing is the filling I always feel like whenever I hear a song what makes me like it is the way that it makes me feel whenever I hear it and in my writing element that’s what it was missing so working with a team. They’ve been teaching me about the feeling of a song over more so the like just the regular writing words it’s about storytelling when people hear a song and tell that tells a story that connects to people if you have a song that connects to people that’s how you build your Fanbase the key word is feeling and connection. Traveling with the team it makes life easier because they make sure that everything is right and in place so you can honestly just focus on being the artist or songwriter where your team is like. Focus on OK you got this outfit OK your hair looks like this OK this is what we have planned while we’re traveling so while we’re traveling we got five interviews after we got these interviews then you have an appearance here in appearance there imagine one person trying to control all of that going on you definitely spread yourself in and it would not be good you would be really stressed out. There’s another thing I’m learning on this journey is that it’s not the labels who run the industry is the attorneys and the lawyers for the long as I thought it was just the radio stations and digital platforms but it isn’t and I was really in shock. Another thing I learned is this industry is very big and small at the same time when I say that I mean like the executives know everybody so if you want to get a deal is Sony and then you go to Warner Bros they they’re going to talk and like I said the executives know everybody so that was another thing that I found out is attitude and consistency is everything because if you have a bad attitude, people won’t want to work with you if you’re not consistent, people won’t depend on you or they can’t count on you. I guess the last thing would be it takes a lot of work to put together a song and a hit song is that let me say and I think that people think it’s as easy as going to the studio recording for an hour and then just shipping the song off to be mix and master but it’s so much more intricate play. The process is beautiful, but it’s very intricate and at the moment that’s what I’m just that’s what I am enjoying right now is the process .

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am very excited about my EP coming out. It’s going to be a different sound than what I’m used to typically riding, so I’m really glad that I was able to experiment with different genres and different writing styles. Getting to where I am today is not easy I faced alot of backlash scrutiny doors being closed also being told no alot. The way I overcame those challenges was by ignoring the negative being honest with myself on my growth and and fully focusing into my craft to where when people hear my music it’s undeniable. The lessons I’ve learned are sometimes you gotta get out your comfort zone in order to grow to be the person you want. What I want the world to know is that though my journey to the industry is a start mind blowing great things are about to happen.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
There’s a place in deep ellum called Big Guys chicken and rice we would definitely go there also Gloria’s check out Legacy west in Plano if the fair was in town the for sure the fair cause the food be hitting Toyota music Factory area for sure Klyde Warren Park . Go to brunch at Yolk or Dicks Cafe or Bay 34th street

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to give a shout out to my vocal coach, my mentor, my family, and friend along the way all these people have been very supportive. My journey in the industry is just beginning, but I would like to also give a shout out to my team as well, the people that I’ve mentioned deserve the shout out because it takes a lot to believe in a person who isn’t taking the conventional Route and supporting them the whole way through.
