Meet BT Bullock | Performance & Wellness Coach

We had the good fortune of connecting with BT Bullock and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi BT, how did you come up with the idea for your business?
The idea for my business came from both practicality and necessity. As a student, I curated my curriculum on foundational structure and proven systems. I focused my studies on psychology, physiology, and nutritional biochemistry to deeply understand the wants, needs, and desires that drive people toward optimal performance.
During college, I interned and eventually trained athletes in a Human Performance Lab where data and application were paramount. It became clear that when all elements work together, the opportunity for success grows exponentially. This confirmed my belief in a holistic approach to Performance Coaching.
Over the years, I’ve seen the same barrier across professionals, teams, and companies: compartmentalization. People create versions of themselves to fit different roles, convincing themselves that they can perform at varying levels depending on the context. For example, someone may downplay their physical health because they believe more hours at work will secure financial stability.
But this mindset pushes people further from actualization and goal achievement. We often act as if time is infinite, but in reality, performance in one area directly impacts the others. If we want true investment in employment, community, recreation, and the future, we must protect and pursue these with equal effort.
I live by this truth: “The way we do one thing is the way we do everything.”
That principle is the foundation of my company, BreakThrough Formula (BTFX).

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
What sets me apart is versatility and authenticity. I embrace the full spectrum of who I am, the triumphs and insecurities, the familiar and the unfamiliar. That acceptance allows me to connect with people beyond surface-level results. It’s not just about what my body looks like or how polished my words are; it’s about accountability, truth, and showing up as an imperfect human being striving to do better.
I’m most proud of how my business has evolved alongside my own life. Through transitions in home ownership, fatherhood, relationships, and personal growth, my company has grown in step with me. It reflects my journey and allows me to guide others who may still be compartmentalizing different parts of themselves. Breaking down those barriers is central to my coaching. We don’t need to be one person at work, another at home, and someone else with our kids. That fragmentation costs energy. Real performance comes from alignment.
Getting here wasn’t easy. I had success in athletics, the military, academics and other professional avenues, but stepping into entrepreneurship required faith and risk. Unlike structured roles where metrics validate your performance, entrepreneurship forces you to bet on yourself without guarantees. What carried me forward was persistence — one step at a time, receiving mentorship, listening when something wasn’t authentic, and staying adaptable.
The biggest lesson I’ve learned is that life is fluid. When we box ourselves in and define too narrowly what we do or don’t do, we hold ourselves back. Systems exist all around us, in business, technology, banking, etc. We trust them to create efficiency. But we rarely create personal systems with the same intentionality. Our brains and bodies are capable of that. My work is about helping people build systems that look and feel like them. Ones that are rooted authenticity, sustainability, and alignment.
At its core, my story and my brand, BreakThrough Formula (BTFX), are about this truth: everything we need is already within us. The challenge is slowing down, cutting through outside noise, and building a structure that allows us to perform at our best.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Texas has always held a special place in my heart — I was stationed at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio during my Army career — so it feels like home. Here in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, specifically Farmersville where my family and I chose to settle, I’d want to give my best friend the experiences that made me fall in love with this place.
We’d start at Lavon Lake, where the quiet, the boats, and paddle boarding make for the perfect reset from the Texas heat. We’d head over to Royse City for barbecue at Smoke Sessions, a spot I discovered while house-hunting that quickly became a favorite. Depending on the season, I’d take them to the Wiley Rodeo or an Allen Americans hockey game to capture a slice of local tradition and community energy.
I’d make sure live music was part of the itinerary — because nothing tells the story of Texas like its sound — and we’d hit a few farmers markets to experience the culture, food, and people up close. If the opportunity came up, we’d even lend a hand at a ranch, because nothing connects you to the land quite like working it.
At the heart of it, my itinerary would reflect what I value most: connection, culture, and community. For me, the best time is found in places that tell a story, celebrate people, and remind us to slow down and enjoy where we are.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There are countless individuals, professors, and groups who’ve shaped my journey, but two stand out. The first is The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho. I read it years ago, and it continues to remind me that we are all alchemists — capable of transforming loss into lessons and creating something meaningful out of challenge.
The second is Transcendence, an annual event led by Alok Appadurai. I attended my first one about two years ago, and it was transformative. Watching Alok lead with such passion while holding firm to his principles and ethics showed me the power of alignment in leadership.
Both influences have become part of my foundation — shaping my growth, my values, and the direction of both my personal life and my business.
