We had the good fortune of connecting with BRYN CARDEN and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi BRYN, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
One of my biggest fears is truly not taking advantage of life’s opportunities or looking back and saying WHAT IF. Some of my biggest accomplishments to date started with not playing the field like others and taking a unique path at a young age. There is certain risk on starting your own business at the young age of 17. I was inexperienced and I am sure many people my age, older, and younger both all doubted my capabilities due to lack of experience and less than what others would consider an ample amount of years on my back for managing finances and a brand.
Feel the fear and do it anyway.
Working in Commercial real estate, there are daily risks and opportunity costs that come with the industry. Investopedia defines Risk as “The potential for harm or financial loss.”. The verbiage of potential stands out to me as nothing is concrete. Turn risk into the ability to be bold and show your ability to take that risk – be confident and courageous in a positively frightening package. Risk creates positive edge. Sit on the same lifestyle and complatency occurs. Risk has such a negative connotation but is simply just the art and edge of creating a new positive change- mixing up your cards and reshuffling for the better when combined with hard work and emotional intelligence.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’ve always loved real estate and started off interning at Allie Beth Allman absorbing from the best in the biz – Alex Perry, Keith Conlon, Erin Young Garrett, and Allie Beth herself. I then transitioned to the Industrial side, working in Industrial Brokerage at JLL. Today my career has led me to Weitzman, a full-service Commerical Real Estate firm with a primary focus in Texas. Our team leases over 44 million square feet (with 24 million in DFW), in addition to representing numerous tenants in the retail, restaurant, health and wellness, and soft goods sectors. Each day is new as some of my current projects include Hillside Village in Cedar Hill, and the turnover of the classic staple – Lawry’s Dallas off of DNT.
I love having many projects, so I currently work with George Bass Stage and Design for PR and marketing in my free time and weekends, as well as being a signed to the Dragonfly agency for commercial print work (working with DaVinci Bridal, Rachel Allen, Hotel Swexan, and numerous print and digital creative pieces). I am still heavily involved with the Rangers promotion and representation – and appeared in their 2023 launch of TX Rangers City Connect Jerseys.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
One of my favourite things to do is show someone around Dallas! A full itinerary.. We’d certainly have to have a girls staycation at the always impeccable Hotel Swexan – spending time at the rooftop pool and taking advantage of their class A fitness facility with skyscraper views, sauna, and European charm in the heart of Dallas.
Waking up Saturday, the Katy Trail in late morning is hard to beat followed by Ice House. It’s the perfect duo of getting active and then sitting back to enjoy a drink and good music. DFW has so many spots to cover, and hopefully it’s a Fall Cowboys game we aee catching or a Saturday afternoon at Globe Life Field.
Breathe Wellness has become a new favourite mine for meditation. It’s important to take time for yourself so we’d have to make a stop there Sunday to regroup and recenter our mind and all around self!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Mike and Lori Carden – my parents. They’ve molded me into someone with a strong backbone of which is at the core of their being. They truly are just great people. Their demeanor, outlook, and ability to see through things and realize what is important in life. It’s special.
