We had the good fortune of connecting with Brooke Latham and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Brooke, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
At Social Canvas, we are committed to facilitate the spread of meaningful messages. We work with purpose-driven organizations to communicate the important work they are doing, and to engage the public in their initiatives. By applying technical skills and strategies to the content we create with our clients, we are able to expand their reach and impact. In the digital era, online space is prone to be flooded with messaging that incites desire, insecurity, misinformation, and misunderstanding; our mission is to populate that space (where we spend so much of our time) with messaging that instills confidence, positivity, support, creative thinking, and understanding.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Where other agencies and independent marketers excel in either communications or strategy, at Social Canvas we do both. In order for a message to be received well, it needs to be communicated clearly both visually and verbally. Graphics, imagery and text all must come together in order to convey the point effectively. But even if you have an expertly crafted message and strong visuals, that message will fall on deaf ears if the technical aspects of your marketing strategy are not adequately optimized. That important and well-refined message will get lost in the sea of content in the vast expanse of the internet. This is why we implement our creative assets with a data-driven approach, and continually test tactics and assess the data. We make these analytics visible to our clients in monthly reports, and work closely with them to achieve their goals.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Klyde Warren Park for some sunshine and snacks, then walk over to Nasher Sculpture Center or the DMA for some creative inspiration.

For dinner and drinks Mi Cocina is obviously a staple, but another hidden gem is Tulum which has a great ambiance and to die for food.

For a fun bar scene I like to hang out around Deep Ellum, and for late night dancing It’ll Do is my favorite spot.
Toller Patio is a great outdoor spot for day drinks
Hyena’s Comedy Nightclub
Peticolas Brewing Co. is a cool spot for tasting beers and playing games.

Dallas is all about the house hangs, and I love to cook, so whenever I have a friend visit I make sure to have a day dedicated to BBQing by the pool.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
The list of people who deserve a shoutout for their contribution to our success is too long to count. If I had to focus on one group that has provided an abundance of support, mentorship, love and encouragement to Social Canvas and to many other female-led businesses, it would be HerCorner. This community of female founders is full of incredible women who build each other up. My mentors, business coach, clients, and friends are all a part of the support system they have created, and I am so grateful to be a part of the community. Through their curriculum, resources, virtual events, and coaching, I have quickly begun to realize how I can harness my power to scale my business, building character along with financial stability.
