We had the good fortune of connecting with Brooke Fitzpatrick and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Brooke, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I love connecting people and helping my friends find love. I had the initial idea to turn my love for connecting people into a business over a year ago and decided to step out on faith in July 2020. Before starting the business, I did some research on the matchmaking industry. Something that immediately grabbed my attention was that there are over 1,600 matchmakers in the U.S. and half of them have only White clients. Of the remaining half of matchmakers, very few cater to people of color. I became a matchmaker because I saw that populations of color were underrepresented in the dating services industry and I wanted to change that. God spoke to me in a dream and gave me the name “Mosaic” for my business. I officially launched Mosaic Matchmaking in September 2020 and have had an overwhelming response.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We offer personalized matchmaking services, relationship coaching, and online dating profile optimization. There are three things that differentiate me from other matchmakers or dating services. First, I intentionally focus on serving professionals of color. I founded Mosaic Matchmaking with all shades of black and brown in mind and I am open to clients of all races and backgrounds.
Second, I promote intentional dating and focus on quality over quantity. I am committed to gaining a deep understanding of my clients, helping them identify what they want and need in a partner, and scouting the right person for them to find long-lasting love.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
For an early coffee or a chill brunch, I would visit Soiree Coffee Bar. For a vegan menu that still tastes delicious, I would visit V-Eats. For a Jamaican/Caribbean flavor, I would visit the Island Spot. I’m from Louisiana, so for a taste of home, I would visit Southern Classic Daquiri Factory. For dessert, I would visit Chocolate Secrets for live jazz and amazing ice cream.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d like to dedicate my shoutout to my husband, Jared Fitzpatrick. He encouraged me to make my dream a reality and step out on faith in starting a business in the middle of a pandemic. He supports me every step of the way and is behind the scenes helping me make Mosaic Matchmaking successful.
