We had the good fortune of connecting with Brittany Goff and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Brittany, is there a quote or affirmation that’s meaningful to you?
I recently read a devotional by Christine Caine that challenged my mind to identify my “assignment” as we start a new year. I copied and pasted a few quick notes to a google doc and have let her words empower me with the many things we are doing with Wheat and Honey Co. this year. She says, “What Is Your Assignment?” and quotes Psalm 115:14-15 NIV, “May the LORD cause you to flourish, both you and your children. May you be blessed by the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth.” As we start a new year, gently, what stirrings do we have to live our fullest lives? What dreams do we have? How do we live our life each day doing the next right thing to achieve them? More importantly, how are we being kind to ourselves and going out of our way to show kindness to those around us TODAY? Each new day is an opportunity to live a life that matters. Don’t take this charge with pressure to perform but instead, I challenge us to be gentle with ourselves by thinking about the next right, and kind, thing we can do today to live out the greatest version of ourselves. Sometimes, often times, living our “purpose” feels like an impossible and unachievable task. Would you join me in reframing this word in 2021? Let’s view our “purpose” as the next way to be kind, love ourselves, and do something that makes a difference for someone else today.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Wheat and Honey Co. offers the largest selection of hand-painted Bibles and study tools that give back, ship fast, and are crafted by our team of women around the world. We are a female-owned and operated small business with large enterprise standards. The intimate small business experience you want and the standard you deserve. We give back by partnering with two local organizations that rescue and restore women exiting the sex trafficking industry. Freedom Shield Foundation and Valiant Hearts. We ship our products fast. Like Amazon, we have a team almost around the clock fulfilling orders and getting packages in the hands of our FedEx team to be delivered domestically to your doorstep guaranteed 3-business days. We empower women. When you shop Wheat and Honey Co. you’re not only supporting our business and give back mission but you’re also financially empowering our team of artists and writers around the world. We host Wheatful Woman Events that are like a women’s retreat including upper-scale pampering (massages, facials, manicures, etc.), worship, speakers, workshops, and community. We also host a podcast, the Wheatful Woman Podcast, that interviews women living imperfect and FULL lives of faith, friendship, and health. Business ownership will always be a journey where I never reach the destination. I’ve learned to hold my dreams loosely knowing God always has a plan far greater than my excel spreadsheet and I must trust Him. He is so good and so faithful to be my guide, show patience with my entrepreneur’s “run fast” spirit, and show up in the smallest details.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We LOVE our city. A few hot spots you can’t miss are: -Brew and Batter Craft Coffee and Waffles – Grapevine, TX (best coffee in town hands down) -Holy Grounds Bookstore – Grapevine, TX (husband/wife team-best local spot to grab a new read!) -Weir’s Furniture Country Store – Southlake, TX (great spot to find a fun gift for a loved one) -The Bar Method – Southlake, TX (one of the only places to find true community + exercise paired so intentionally!) -The Worthy Co. – Fort Worth, TX (Non-profit retail where every purchase benefits local trafficking, prostitution, and addiction survivors – need I say more?) -Winton + Waits – Fort Worth, TX (a retail and events business that has a passion for curating “story-forward” products in partnership with non-profit organizations locally and globally) Clearly, I could go on for days!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
This year, I want to give God glory more. Not just because I know I’m told to, but because I truly believe He uses everything for our good and His glory. He shuts doors and opens better ones. He uses the ugliness of our hearts for our good. He uses falling outs with friends to draw us near. He uses weakness so His strength can be displayed. He moves mountains so we can know Him. He grants us the strength to praise Him during the storm. Not after. His love is unfailing and everlasting. I get confused daily about why we see the hate in our world, the heartache in my home, the division I see between people. Then I remember we have been given a guide. When life gets foggy, He is near. When we want to give up, He is there. When we have lost hope, we have a greater, HOLY, hope. God created something so perfect and we messed it all up. We hated our neighbor. We lied to our spouse. We judged a friend. Our world is so very fallen and we need a guide. In the confusion, we need clarity. In our weakness we need strength. In our brokenness we need HOLY. God is waiting on us to choose Him moment by moment and day by day to be more like Him. To be kind. To be compassionate. To be understanding. To seek justice. For these reasons, I give God the glory. I give God the honor. I give God the praise for everything He does through Wheat and Honey Co. and the women made more whole through our desire to know Him more.
