We had the good fortune of connecting with Britt Hamilton and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Britt, where are your from? We’d love to hear about how your background has played a role in who you are today?
I’m from ALL OVER!! Lol I don’t really claim one place as home. My childhood wasn’t the best, but it wasn’t the worst either. My parents were divorce before I was born. They married very early in life and it didn’t help that my dad was in the military. Even though, I have siblings I mostly grew up as an the only child Art was my way escaping pain that I endured growing up. Not being settled in one place I learned early how to adapt and adjusted. The only thing that was consistent was being able to draw and journal. It was easy to carry around a sketched book / paper and an pencil everyday. I drew or painted how I felt at the time when I was younger that’s how I expressed myself. My dad didn’t know I could paint/draw until I was about 22/23 and my mother died before I even started to become public about my work. Thats that’s how much of an secret I kept my art from others because it was my journal in a sense. My background, taught me during this walk of life you must remind humble and have humility for others. I look at everyone as an equal. Life in itself is extremely hard no matter if you’re poor, middle class or upper class. Granted, everyone is not humble nor have humility, heck I didn’t always have it. I had to lose some things & people in my life to remind myself to be humble because it can all be taken away in a blink of an eye. I try to be transparent and show vulnerability in my everything i do in life including my works. I love wholeheartedly and I put passion into everything because ultimately that reflects me on the inside. Im far from perfect, and allow my crafts tell my story.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Due to Covid my paintings are sold online online auctions, while photography I’ve refrain from shooting as much due to safety protocols.

As I grow I realize that my crafts has grown. Weather I get thousands of people to like my work  or one person it stills tell a story, and goes for my photography and my paintings. More and more I see the transparency in my crafts that reflects my life and how I overcame some tough hurtles and obstacles. It wasn’t an easy journey by far, when I first became a photographer I didn’t know how to reflect myself into my photos while using others to show it. Now, not only do I reflect myself the person or object I’m shooting I make sure it/they are reflected as well that’s me it unique. I want my photos to be authentic and realistic as possible wow capturing the moment. As for my paintings, they are my journals in art form! I paint when I’m extremely excited or when I’m at  extremely low point in my life, but I got out those emotions without using words. It’s a form of releasing but also as a reminder what I went through. I express those emotions best through abstract painting, everyone sees something different when I paint. As for the community  I want people to know they should follow their passion even if it seem like others don’t have interest in your work. You have to keep going while remaining positive and have those who really support in your corner. It’s starts with BELIEVING IN YOURSELF!! The rest will fall into place….. trust me a couple years ago people laughed at my work or called it boring and I used that to fuel my drive to keep practicing and investing in my talents.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Eric and I are so in sync! I would take him to Disney World and visit all the parks. I would take him here because I know it’s a place he always wanted to go and never been. Lol we cheap so I know we would eat at one or two fancy restaurants but we would be getting the most for our buck at the different parks for sure lol, especially Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom. I’m nerdy so I love museums, and historical places I like learning what was before I was here. It’s very intriguing especially if I read about it and done my research on a place. My favorite city that I’ve visit is London and Toronto it’s something about the atmosphere in the culture in those cities that is very vivid and exciting to see and to walk among for sure.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Oh wow, there are so many people whom have groomed and watered me over the years! But, there are two people in particular that have been my backbone, my Aunt Cindy and my God mum Shannon. My Aunt Cindy have mentally been my support system since I can remember. She always told me there was more to life than what I was going through at that moment, and assured me that I was loved and she will support me no matter what. Especially, when I felt like I had no one including my parents and other immediate family. No matter how close or far I am she makes sure she checks in. It doesn’t go unnoticed. Shannon my God Mum. Is just that “ a God mum” God really sent her to me. She is my nurturer, she’s gives it to me straight no chaser in a delicate way though. She taught me that I can be broken and still be solid, that my past is not who am nor is it my future. I’m grateful for the both, no matter what they have stayed in my corner and love me regardless without any strings attached. I dedicate this to them.
