We had the good fortune of connecting with Britnee Scott and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Britnee, have you ever found yourself in a spot where you had to decide whether to give up or keep going? How did you make the choice?
As a creator/artist/business owner there is always a feeling that you want to give up but the time where you feel discouraged that’s when you start on your craft. Giving up means that you have failed to accomplish your mission and goals. I say stay consistent and take breaks but never give up, always keep going. You won’t regret it at the end.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’m a visual artist that don’t have a specific style. I am pop art, abstract, contemporary all in one. I would say that I am set apart amongst other artist because of my bright colors, and open minded creations. I don’t stick to one particular style of painting I used all techniques and ways to make my work stand out. I am mostly proud of myself because of my consistency and effort. I have collaborated with different brands and the items were a true success. I don’t believe that things are hard I believe that they can become a challenge and that’s what you want. I want the world to know that I was here by leaving my art scattered throughout the world.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my friends were visiting from another stated I would definitely take them to the Downtown area of Washington, D.C. and explore different museums. I would also take them to restaurants located throughout the city but we’ll start with my side of town first which is South East, D.C. and work my way up. My favorite drink at the bar is Hendricks Gin and Pineapple with a splash of cranberry. I don’t have a particular name for the drink I created so I’ll just call it the “Hip Stiff” lol. That’s something I might come up with. But I am always interested in places that allow you to socialize and have a great bite to eat.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
The Most High is always first. But most importantly my parents, friends, and supporters all play a major role in my levels of progression. I would consider myself self-taught but growing up my grandfather, parents, and cousin enhanced my gift and ability to always challenge myself and pursue what I love to do and that’s create. Every item I create is made with passion, love, and care. Ill never change that.
