Meet Brian Murphy

We had the good fortune of connecting with Brian Murphy and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Brian, what’s something about your industry that outsiders are probably unaware of?
That Mother Nature is the true boss!
Winter months can be freezing & we have to close. Four times last year for about five days each on average.
Spring and Fall months can be rainy, and that can close us down.
Even when the rain stops, it’s often Cart Path Only upon resumption and that keeps plenty of golfers away, especially our seniors.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Nothing about me other than I love our people & I want them all to have fun, enjoy themselves, and be healthy.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Texas Roadhouse
The Star
The PGA Frisco
Grandscape

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Our whole team is the key. We all have our own roles & reliability, dependability, and flexibility are crucial.
From the clubhouse people picking up extra shifts for the folks out from vacations or medicals, to switching days to fill holes, it’s very important.
Then there’s the starters & marshals, and a huge shotout goes out to Jim “Coach” Strother, who is not only a great marshal, but he’s also a fantastic scheduler of the other great marshals. Our marshals & our starters help so much out here on weekends and holidays, it needs to be spotlighted.
