We had the good fortune of connecting with Brenda Rosales and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Brenda, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I knew I wanted to be in the Beauty Industry since middle school. I had a project to do on the career I would like to pursue. I had no idea what that was so I chose Cosmetologist just because I already enjoyed makeup. I learned about all the opportunities under it and how much you can actually help people. As a hairstylist I don’t just do hair. I make a connection with my clients , listen to what they’re wanting and help them achieve just that. Seeing how happy and good they feel after the service is the best part!
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’ve been a Licensed Cosmetologist for 7 years. I specialize in Corrective Colors , Blonding , Lash Extensions and Hair Extensions. Specializing in these things was definitely not easy but with the guidance and training I received I was able to make it happen. It’s taken long hours (being behind the chair past 12am sometimes ) making mistakes , and constructive criticism to learn everything I know. The biggest lesson I learned along the way you never stop learning and you can’t be scared if you want to succeed and grow. After many years of working in a salon I have decide of taking a risk and being in my own suite. I will now have my own little space to create clients dream hair!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I honestly don’t go out much. But when I do it has to involve food and activities. For breakfast my favorite place would be JJ’s Cafe. Their Chilaquiles are amazing. For the rest of the day it depends on what the mood is. But for Authentic Mexican Food ; Típicos in Dallas and for Sea Food ; Fish n Tails . For activities Round 1 Bowling and Amusement; activities for every age. Or a walk In Downtown Dallas.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Through the years I’ve received the guidance and support from other stylists, my family and friends.
