We had the good fortune of connecting with Breanna Smith and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Breanna, is there a quote or affirmation that’s meaningful to you?
One of my favorite quotes is ” She remembered who she was, and the whole game changed” In my journey to becoming which is a path I am still actively walking. This quote has brought me home into my body, my truth, and my purpose more times than I can count. To me, it’s a quote that automatically brings me into accountability, one that reminds me that I am in control of my life. Not society or family expectations but solely me, Bre. In me, learning and relearning I find it important to have moments of stillness to keep me centered and fully present that life is nothing short of a gift, and what we choose to do with this time can either assist us in living in our purpose or keep us living in the past and a cycle of not-enoughness.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
The work that I do is rooted in encouraging and helping individuals find their way home. Into their truth and rooted in their power. With tools of movement, self-inquiry, and mindfulness. This work, is something that came about naturally. When I started on my path of healing I was in my 20’s. And the iterations of self have varied in so many ways over the last 15 years. It wasn’t until 2023 I got serious about starting my business.

Up until that point, I had taught and practiced yoga for over 10 years. I would share my perspectives on healing and my journey and show my followers on my social media platform different modalities of healing to assist them in their journey. So many people would reach out and share how what I posted had helped them or ask for advice which I gladly gave away and some would attend my yoga classes where they would tell me how much healing they experienced on their mat in connecting with their bodies.

But in the back of my mind I would question, ” But what gives me the right to wear the title of teacher” And this is something I’ve fought, until I realized that I wasn’t a teacher rather I was a guide. In each of our bodies lies the keys to our liberation and freedom. Some of us have forgotten where these keys are, and others among us are sleeping giants. My role is to assist in the relocation of those keys so that my clients can step into divine leadership and the teacher’s role in their own lives.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Anytime I have a friend visiting from out of town my number one place to visit is King Spa. King Spa is one of those places that you never get tired of. And I love that you can spend a whole day there cuddled up with a book or your laptop to retreat from the world if only for a bit. Because at times I’m an introvert, I recommend this place on a weekday when it’s super quiet and feels like a world away from the business of Dallas.

Next, my favorite food destination is Desta, an Ethiopian restaurant in the North Dallas area. I have been going to this place for years! The food is amazing and the owner is the best. You can catch her walking around to tables, greeting and introducing herself to the new guest. And if you meet her once she will always remember you!

My last stop before heading in for a night of vinyl records and intimate conversations would of course be half-priced books. Whether you are a Dallas native or an implant I am sure you have heard of this place, the flagship location on Northwest Highway is the only one I have been to in my 15-year residence in Dallas. They have everything from Vinyal to tarot, to metaphysical books, and everything in between. Plus their very own coffee shop inside, and what’s book perusing books without caffeine.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
So much of who I am, I credit to my parents, especially my father. Much of what my father taught me wasn’t placed into words, rather they were rooted in his actions. I have countless memories of witnessing him assist motorists on the side of the road to lend a helping hand or give with joy to those in need. As a child seeing this, taught me that real joy isn’t just in receiving but in the nature of giving.

This was reinforced by my Grandmother who as long as I can remember and still to this day volunteers for countless organizations from March of Dimes to our local Lioness Club as it’s called in Michigan which serves the elderly in the community and also as a secretary in the church she grew up. Much of my devotion to people was implanted through her. Growing up in a small village in the midwest in some ways was an incubator. I grew up rooted with a deep sense of community, as we knew everyone in our town.

It was more like the weaving of small families, that all shared a similar thread and that thread connected us. In adulthood when I left home that was something I’ve always created for myself. And I am incredibly grateful to have that here in the Dallas area.
