We had the good fortune of connecting with Brandy Frazier and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Brandy, what are you inspired by?
I think in my art, I’m most inspired by a calm and peaceful environment. I have a  neurological movement disorder, cervical dystonia, that dictates much of what I do day today. Most of my days are spent creating in silence. I love music but I rarely listen to music or turn on a TV while I’m creating. I’m a fiber artist, this includes layered macrame wallhangings, loom weaving and macra-weave. My focus is creating what I consider calming textural art.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?

if you’ve seen my logo, I think it says a lot about me. I’ve created my own branding and I  am consistently working to grow and I maintain my social media presence. I set up my  Etsy shop, integrated with Instagram & Facebook shopping…and I’m still alive (if you know, you know). I learned how to create my art via YouTube tutorials, My new focus is to pay it forward, so I now share my designs, tips and techniques on my YouTube channel and through Instagram Reels. My next (fingers crossed) endeavor will be in person fiber art instruction. Hopefully soon, I will be offering small personalized classes for those who want to learn about this craft and to make a wallhanging to take home. It’s a wonderful thing, doing what I love. Finally, I’m doing something just for me, and I’m doing it in a very calm and healthy environment.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.

Over the years some of my favorite memories in the Dallas area have been from visiting  Deep Ellum, this area truly has some of the best small venue clubs, and a wonderful variety of restaurants. During the summer we love swimming and hanging out at the  FOE. Lastly, I’m originally from Illinois so a cheesy Vienna Beef from Jimmy’s Food  Store or some Amazing Thai food from Mai’s Vietnamese.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?

I’d love to give a shout out to Marilou (my mom) and Phoebe (my daughter) sometimes as an artist I feel rather lost in the sea of creators. I have a strong social media presence, and I get plenty of likes, comments and shares. But the support from family

has a greater impact on my perception of self worth. They are the kind push that a  creative person sometimes needs. Also, I would like to thank my husband. Our routine consists of me getting completely frustrated trying to figure out business, technical or social media issues and his reply is always “You got this!! You’ll have it figured out in a  day “. He’s right, and he does help to keep my stressors in check. Between all of the  YouTube videos I watch and the many hours spent reading blogs and websites, I seem  to keep my head above water And I’m able to KEEP ON CREATING
