We had the good fortune of connecting with Brandon Williams and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Brandon, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
I was born in Mississippi and raised in Atlanta, GA. As a kid, my dad was a church musician and my mom was a worship leader. Music was a huge and integral part of my upbringing because everyone in my immediate family was involved in it. I currently work in the music industry with signed and indie artists abroad across the world so I know my childhood is directly connected to where I am today as a producer and musician.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Having a strong musical background in the African American church culture has exposed me to almost every genre and style of music. There is a deep-rooted spontaneous element to church that forces you to come up with musical concepts on the spot which has been a huge advantage when it comes to an ever-evolving music industry that requires you to stay ahead of the musical curve. Although I’ve had great success throughout the years, I’ve also encountered many hardships along the way. I believe most people focus on their craft first and character second. I believe what sets me apart is that I believe character outweighs craft every day of the week. The biggest piece of advice I can give is for you to invest in who you are more than what you do and people will pay for what you do because of who you are.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Since moving from California and relocating to Dallas in October of 2019, I’ve become fond of the Deep Ellum/Bishop Arts District in Dallas. There’s plenty to do there from enjoying live music to eating great food. This is where I would start if I had family & friends in town for sure!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I have to most definitely give credit to my mother and father who started my sisters and myself in music at an early age. One of my current music mentors is my brother and friend David “Swagg” Harris who has worked with and developed artists such as H.E.R., Kehlani, Snoh Aalegra, and many others. Also, my brother and friend Keithen “Bassman” Foster who is currently on tour with H.E.R. as bass guitarist and producer. I’ve been blessed to work with them both on almost every project they have touched since 2019.
