We had the good fortune of connecting with Brandon Delgado and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Brandon, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I believe that taking risks is essential for growth and success. At this stage in my career, I’m comfortable embracing risk because I have everything to gain and little to lose. As the founder of BTIXist Productions, I’ve taken significant risks to establish and grow the company, from taking out loans to produce films to venturing into new industries like app development and music production.
Currently I’m taking risks in vastly different products, such a unique dating app in Sølsk, which have the potential to disrupt the market. Hosting our own film festival, the Zavala Screenplay Competition, is another ambitious risk that hopes to showcase local talent and position BTIXist Productions as a driving force in the Dallas film community.
My comfort with risk-taking stems from my drive to be successful. While not every risk will pay off, the lessons learned and successes achieved will propel me forward.
What should our readers know about your business?
As a filmmaker and entrepreneur, I pride myself on being someone who dares to dream big and takes the risks necessary to bring those dreams to life. I have an urge to turn the ideas that live in my head into tangible realities, and this drives the innovative spirit behind the diverse range of projects I undertake through my company.
What sets me apart is my unique combination of tech-literacy, intelligence, adaptability, and a grounded outlook on reality. By staying ahead of the curve technologically, I can quickly learn and implement new skills and technologies, allowing me to venture into exciting new fields like app development and music production alongside my core film production work.
Getting to where I am today wasn’t easy, but it was a journey fueled by passion and perseverance. I initially hoped for a big break, a chance to be discovered, but eventually realized that I had to create my own opportunities. With a full-time job and (at the time) school to balance, I dedicated several hours each day to building my company, BTIXist Productions, from the ground up.
One of the most valuable lessons I’ve learned along the way is the importance of planning. By staying 10 to 20 steps ahead and preparing for every possible outcome, I’ve been able to navigate challenges more effectively and make the most of my time and resources. It’s a constant race against the clock, but with proper planning, even time can be beaten.
As I continue to grow, I want the world to know that I am ready to take on even bigger and more ambitious challenges. My expansion into diverse fields like venue rentals, app development, and film festivals showcases my versatility and hunger for innovation. I’ve come a long way, but in many ways, I have only just begun.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend were visiting the area, we’d explore some of my favorite spots such as Freeplay in Dallas or Arlington, a bar/arcade packed with vintage arcade machines and fantastic 90s vibes, where I’d show off my skills on MaiMai. The next day, we’d head to Klyde Warren Park for a relaxing day, enjoying the lively atmosphere and food trucks. There’s also this parking garage on the outskirts of downtown DFW with an incredible view of the Dallas skyline at night. On a Saturday night, I’d take them to It’ll Do Club to dance to EDM music. I don’t personally listen to EDM, but it is great club music.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to dedicate my shoutout to the movie ‘Her’ (2013) directed by Spike Jonze. This film had a profound impact on me when I first watched it as a freshman in high school back in 2014. At the time, I was going through my first breakup, and the movie’s themes of love, loss, and human connection resonated with me on a deeply personal level.
It felt as if the stars had aligned, making ‘Her’ hit me at just the right moment in my life. The film’s incredible narrative sparked my passion for storytelling. So I begin writing my first screenplay, ‘Retrogress,’ setting me on the path to becoming a filmmaker. Now, a decade later, ‘Her’ remains my all-time favorite film and continues to influence my work as the founder of BTIXist Productions. It’s a testament to the movie’s enduring impact. Side note, the film is currently regaining popularity in the tech world due to advancements in a.i.
