We had the good fortune of connecting with Brandon Clark and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Brandon, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I started as a teacher at a music school after the church I was working at was shriveling up and having to let some of their recently hired staff go. Over a couple years I went from teacher to networking & marketing to partner to franchise owner and eventually to fully owning and directing. The owner and director of the original school I started with gave me the opportunity to take over our second campus and it all sort of just happened at once. So as far as the thought process behind starting my own – I kind of got thrown into it. It was take it over and become a small business owner, or figure out a different career. After weighing the risks and what it would take & ask of me and my family, I dove in and it’s been a fun, un-fun, exciting, demoralizing, rewarding, challenging experience that I’m still learning and mastering things each new season.

What should our readers know about your business?
There are plenty of music schools around the DFW area and nationwide and I imagine most are doing well to help pass on skills, passion, and creativity to the next wave of musicians – but I think what sets us apart is our desire to connect on a deeper level with our students and their families to tailor and adapt our pathway and curriculum to reach their specific goals and nurture a life-long passion. I specifically love getting to work with students who are interested in worship leading or getting more involved in their church’s music ministry. I believe that our success is built around not just turning the pages through lesson books – but engaging each week with our students and meeting them where they’re at.

Of course there are challenges on different fronts of our operation. One of the biggest would be being diligent during our hiring process to find instructors who have longevity for the sake of their relationships with our students & families. We’ve been fortunate to have committed, experienced teachers on our staff. Another challenge is keeping that spark alive for all our students, regardless of where they’re at in their development and progress. Over the years we’ve learned different tricks to keep them excited and to reinvigorate them along the way.

If we’re known for anything, I want it to be in what we offer: an experience with teachers who genuinely love what we have the privilege to do and who accommodate their students & families to the fullest.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We’d invite them to join us for church at Tribes Church in Argyle on a Sunday morning!

One of our favorite places lately has been Wild Acre Brewing in Ft Worth – big space with a couple playgrounds, bike-cars, inflatable jump pad, and turf for our three kids to play and they keep and cycle some great options for drinks, and great food too.

We enjoy Thai Monkey in Roanoke. China Island Grill in Flower Mound. Hapik in Firewheel/Garland was really fun for the kids – wall climbing. We don’t get out a lot now that we’re washed up with 3 young kids but we enjoy our little circle of life here in Argyle.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I have a few who deserve credit. The first is my wife Leah – she’s always been fully supportive of everything I’ve sought out to do, and plays a crucial role in our music school’s (and family’s) success. Nothing is possible without her. Second is Presley Miller who gave me the opportunity to take this on and taught me many, many things along the way. Finally, Cassidy Lackey has been an incredible mentor and very generous & instrumental in helping us get started.
