We had the good fortune of connecting with Brandon “13LACKBeard” Williams and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Brandon “13LACKBeard”, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
For me, it was about freedom. I’ve worked for many major corporations and felt like I wasn’t living out my dreams and wasn’t curating the life I wanted for my family. Starting any business is risky, but the moment you take that leap of faith, it’s so satisfying.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
What I feel sets me apart from others is my passion for performing. I want every show to feel like it’s an out-of-body adventure. I want the crowd from front to back to be entertained. There’s no better feeling than having complete control of 50 to 100k people and feeling their energy. Getting to this place took many sacrifices and wasn’t easy. You lose friends, gain new ones, and have to juggle your personal life with your stage life while at the same time trying to remember your moral values. I’ve always focused on ensuring the people around me win and eat. Because if everyone is eating, then you’re eating too. I want the world to know me and hear how passionate I am, and whether it be an hour set or five hours set, forget anything they are going through and vibe with me.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Everybody knows I wear the Star on my chest, so the first place I take them to is “The Star in Frisco.” The headquarters of the Dallas Cowboys. There are so many spots to walk around, see the incredible history of the Cowboys, and eat. I would also take them to Lava Cantina for great entertainment from local to big-name artists. The North Dallas (Frisco, The Colony) area has become an entertainment area for all ages. Now in Dallas, it’s a must on my list for us to stop by Town Hearth for dinner. Then head over to Tower Club or Catbird for a drink and check out the view of the city finishing off the night at Greenlight Social.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Everybody in business deserves some great mentors, and I was blessed with a few that I can call family. When I started, I just wanted a chance and learned the game. My brother DJ Shack took me under his wing and showed me how to manipulate a room and bring energy. When I moved to Dallas, I met Michael Jerome.. He taught me the business and reading a room. Big S/O to Deejay Silver, who has inspired me to keep chasing for more. There are so many more people I could name behind the scene that have encouraged and supported me through the years and I’m truly thankful. Also I’m really thankful for my families support because they are my driving force for all this.
