We had the good fortune of connecting with Brandiss’ Jones and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Brandiss’, do you have a favorite quote or affirmation?
My favorite quote is one I heard Lauren London say: “Build from the dust and keep moving forward”
That resonated with me. I tattooed it on my side as a reminder that, when you hit the bottom that’s the time to start over and push through. To me it means, no matter how severe the situation may be, you can always come out of it in time, you just have to push yourself and start over. Rewrite your story.
What I love about it is it speaks to me. Times when I’ve felt like checking out or giving up, I read it over and over and it became my motivation to move forward. It helped me find my purpose.

What sets me apart from others is I’m 1 of 1! I’m professional, understanding, genuine and respected, I also offer alcoholic beverages to my adult clients. They get a free therapy sessions and a drink lol
Life struggles got me where I am today. I’m a single mom of 3 (one college kid). Working a full time job to support them was never enough. It was never easy but as their provider I don’t have the luxury to say “I don’t have it”or “I can’t do afford it right now” so I had to grind and push myself.
Prayer multiple times and day and meditation helps keep me grounded. That’s how I overcame the challenges. It was no one but God, I know it was him!
The lessons I’ve learned along the way are: stand firm on your word, charge your worth, continuously practice, promote yourself, and never be afraid to set out of your comfort zone.
I want the world to know that when I first started doing hair I was 10. I would do my own hair and I did a good job. By the time I was in high school I was doing my hair, my family and friends. After high school it just became a hobby. It wasn’t until I got older that I finally saw my potential and decided tap into my business more and with that came some great and loyal clients. That I love dearly!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I just moved here 6 years ago and I don’t get out much so I always have to check TikTok for fun places to visit.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My grandmother is a big motivation for me. Up until her passing she always pushed me to achieve more in life, she’s the one person who supported me and got me through so much in life.
My mother for her sacrifices throughout the years. She was a beautician and I remember when she opened her own shop after working for someone else for so long. That was so amazing to me. I was just a teenager but I remember being so proud of her. She even let me come up with the salon name and at that moment I knew that being a business owner was what I wanted to do.
My kids, they are my hair models lol. They let me explore my creativity and they help me perfect my skills. I wanted them to know you can build your legacy at any point. You just have to put in the work.
Mentorship would be my little sister Chasity and my good friend Kelsey. Both whom have their own businesses as well and are insightful in many different areas.
