We had the good fortune of connecting with Brandee Jones and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Brandee, how do you think about risk?
I believe taking risks in entrepreneurship is important, if you don’t take risks, you’ll never know how much you can grow as a business owner. Taking risks has allowed me to open my mindset to reach more opportunities, believe in myself to accomplish higher goals and to move in faith and power, by doing this, I know that I can accomplish anything that I put my mind to.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We are a small boutique black owned full service real estate brokerage, based in Cedar Hill, TX. We provide real estate services to land developers, land owners, residential buyers and sellers and business owners throughout the state of Texas. We are very community focused and involved in our school district, religious facilities and city government. We are set apart from others, because we provide mentorship to residential agents looking to transition into the commercial industry, we also provide continued education for renewals and to increase business revenue. We are most proud of our success and the ability to create jobs. Also excited about adding land developments to our services, in the near future. We started this business while working full time corporate jobs for the government, we decided it was time to step out on faith, create more freedom to raise and nurture our children and determine our own income and value. We are passionate about all things real estate and we are happy with our decision and wish we would have started sooner. This journey has not been easy, but worth it, it takes a lot of sacrifice, hard work, long hours, financial set backs, failures, success, valuable relationships, endless opportunities, and plenty of freedom to spend time with family and travel. It takes passion, determination, faith, a shift in mindset to be successful in entrepreneurship, it can take a toll on your mental and can be stressful, but with God, anything is possible, our strength lies in him. We overcome challenges by staying focused on our end goals, and not allowing any distractions to rob us of our focus. We have learned to delegate more and to hire based on the help we need and hire slow, fire fast. We are Family oriented, goal driven and focused on reaching our client’s bottom line. We aim to increase our footprint beyond the state of Texas into other parts of the World in the next five years.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We would visit Frisco, TX, there is a variety of shopping, dining and great quality hotels in the area that would make for an amazing stay cation. We would book a stay at the Hilton, go shopping at The Centre at Preston Ridge, dine at Del Friscos steakhouse, and hang out at Granite Park to watch the beautiful view of the light show on the water.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to shout out Goldman Sachs 10ksb small business program, a 14 week business program that helps business owners realize economic opportunity, and create jobs by providing access to education, support services and capital. Goldman Sachs helped me to realize that I need to work on the business, and systems as opposed to working in the business with little growth.
