We had the good fortune of connecting with Bobbie Hallmon and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Bobbie, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I was in the customer service and food industry for most of my teen years. I always wanted to own my own business and work for myself, but I needed to find my true passion. I have always been the one to randomly bake box cakes for the holidays for my family. In Dec 2019, I started making chocolate covered apples and slices to help make money to get myself a car. I then moved on to chocolate covered strawberries for Valentine’s Day in 2020. I saw myself having so much fun and being creative in my own way. I made my very first cheesecake for some of my friends and family in April 2020. I did not even taste or try the cake myself, before I started selling slices. Very bold move, but it changed my life forever. I had finally found my true passion for baking and treat making. And after months of practicing, researching, and encouragement from my close family and friends, I established Treneva’s Treasures!
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Starting my business was definitely not easy at all. I did months and months of research about the baking industry, what it had to offer, the cost of production, start-up costs, licenses, and more. My days consisted of long hours in the kitchen, standing over a stove, sore muscles/feet, back aches, but still I would not have changed a single thing. I used those long days/hours as motivation to keep going to fulfill my dreams and my legacy. My brand derives from the legacy of my grandparents who passed in 2018. I took my time picking the name for my business because I wanted the name to actually mean something. I took both of their first names, Trennis and Eva, and combined them to make Treneva. I added Treasures because I see all of my desserts and sweets as gifts of gold & diamonds to give back to people to make their life a little bit sweeter. I am so excited to see where my baking journey takes me. I stepped out on faith and never looked back!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I absolutely love seafood (crab legs & fish to be exact) and I love a nice glass of wine or a strong fruity daiquiri. So Friday night we would go to Crazee Crab or Razzoos in Arlington, and then hit up Round One at the Parks Mall to do some bowling, play games, etc. Then Saturday we would go to the Forth Worth Zoo or the Dallas Aquarium, because we love the animals! Afterwards, we would go to Deep Ellum and eat at Vidorra (great Mexican food & the views from the roof are nice). Sunday morning we are heading to Yolk in Downtown Dallas, for brunch to eat some good food, have endless mimosas, and a nice ending to our weekend!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would love to dedicate my shoutout to my amazing support system, that consists of my wonderful parents & in-laws, charismatic boyfriend, grandmother, and last but definitely not least my loving sister. They all have given me every ounce of encouragement and support I could ever ask for. Their daily motivation keeps me going to accomplish all of my goals in life. I would also like to dedicate my shoutout to my two loving grandparents, Trennis Lee & Eva Mae Hallmon, who passed away in 2018, only six months apart. Treneva’s Treasures is apart of their legacy, as well as mine. Every day I use my business to honor them and I will always be forever grateful having them as my grandparents.
