We had the good fortune of connecting with Blake Kleisinger and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Blake, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I pursued an artistic career (specifically music) because it gave me the freedom to express my thoughts and feelings at an incredibly deep level; something that I’ve always wanted to do, but could never find a proper medium to achieve such experience.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am the Singer and Guitarist for the Indie Rock band mkn coffee. The band was founded in 2021 and is composed of Lead Guitarist Nate Iturrino, Bassist Clay Fearin, and Drummer Atlas Scott. Something super important to us is authenticity; from the lyrics, to the melodies, to the driving force of the drums, everything must send a message. Most all of mkn coffee’s lyrics are in the perspective of someone struggling with mental health issues. My ultimate purpose is to bring awareness to these struggles, and lead these people I share this troubling reality with to the Light of Christ; mostly through the manifestation of my sufferings.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We’re based in Anna, TX, so one of our go-to places is a family-owned Sushi Go! We go there all the time. Before shows we’ll normally grab dinner at a local Asian restaurant in the area. One of my favorites in Denton is Hanabi Ramen.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My Lord & Savior Jesus Christ, Mother Mary, my girlfriend Rosie, my family, and my incredible band are truly who I owe it all to. Without them I don’t know where I’d be!
