We had the good fortune of connecting with Bigfoot Beverage Club and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Bigfoot Beverage Club, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
We’re a team of three childhood best friends who love cocktails and coffee. After working in the industries, we wanted to provide our own twist and unique flavor profiles. Bigfoot represents exploration, curiosity, and mystery. We’re foodies at heart, and enjoy the culture that a bar and coffee shop provide. Our goal is to give our community a place where people can network and socialize with a specialty cocktail or coffee drink in hand.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
We’re a core team of three people, each with our own unique skillset from our experience. We have a combined 10+ years of experience in the coffee and cocktail industries.
Broderick Floresca has been in the coffee and customer service industry with household names in the DFW area. Through his experience, he has become passionate about serving others and strives to provide a positive experience for the people he serves.
Elijah Garcia is a classically trained chef who found himself transitioning to the bar industry. His skills that he learned as a chef were easily transferable to the bar, allowing him to create unique flavor profiles in his cocktails.
Wolfgang Floresca is a professional graphic designer and art director who has worked in the marketing and communications industry. Not only does he provide the creative expertise, but he has data-driven marketing skills that he’s learned in his career.
All three of us come from hard-working immigrant families. Seeing our parents and grandparents sacrifice and work so hard for their families has instilled passion and a strong work ethic in all of us.
We’re excited to provide a minority-owned coffee and cocktail service that cares about their craft. We draw inspiration from our unique backgrounds to push the boundaries, whether it’s while creating coffee and cocktails, or giving an enjoyable experience to our community.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
First things first: coffee. A few of our favorite spots are Wayward Coffee, Native Coffee, and White Rhino. After that, we’d go someplace cool like the Underground Market on Greenville Ave or the Farmers Market, and from there we’d grab brunch. Brunch spots we love are Oddfellows, Old West Cafe, Crickle and Co., and L&L Hawaiian Barbecue.
After a quick, much needed nap, more coffee at one of the listed places, and then grab some baklava at Bigdash Ice Cream Pastries.
Happy hour and dinner will be at Hudson House, and from there we’ll get cocktails at one of our favorite spots, like Atlas, Tiny Victories, Parliament, and The Dubliner.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
We want to shoutout one of our best friends, Jonathan Obar. This isn’t our first business attempt, and Jonathan was the one who rallied us to always try to do something together from a young age. He inspired the entrepreneurial spirit that the three of us have to this day to start this venture. Jonathan is also one of the co-owners of Beltline Supply, a DFW based t-shirt company that creates Metroplex-specific apparel.
