We had the good fortune of connecting with Big Homie Joe (Joe McCormick) and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Big Homie Joe, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I actually really started falling in love with art once I started getting tattoos. The first time I walked into a tattoo shop it just felt like I was meant to be there. After that I went home, started drawing, and have been chasing the dream ever since. I had a first grade teacher that use to always tell my moms I was going to be an artist one day, so she seen it in me in the beginning.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’m just blessed to be where I am today. I would say now I’m one of the top artist in my city. It really took a lot of hard work and dedication to get to this point. I had a lot of people who doubted me and had to make a lot of sacrifices in order to put myself in this position. I tell everyone I talk to that if you have a dream, stick to it no matter what even if everyone is against you. Not everyone see’s your vision, but as long as you stick to the plan and put in the work, you’ll make it. Just never lose focus on what you’re working towards.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
When Friday hits I hit up the fam and the gang, and we stay lit for the most part. We usually go to downtown OKC (Bricktown), there we hit a couple of spots. Our usuals are “Saints Ultra Lounge” and “Pink Parrot.” I’m really tight with the owners and DJ’s so I try to go out and support as well as go out and network. By the way if you don’t know by now, Crown Royal Vanilla is the best drink ever. Respectfully I’m waiting on my sponsorship.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Yo S/O to God first and foremost, he’s always been there looking out for the kid. Then I wanna thank my moms and my whole family for always supporting. My mentor Chris Beardsley for showing me the ropes. And everyone who’s out here supporting and encouraging me to grow. It’s all love this way.
