We had the good fortune of connecting with Bernice Bivens and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Bernice, why did you pursue a creative career?
I chose an artistic career, because I wanted to focus on what I’m good at. I can come up with an idea in my mind and make it reality. It’s an extremely satisfying feeling of accomplishment. The smallest thing can be beautiful or captivating. It’s my job to find those things and present them to the public. Like beauty, my art is temporary.

What should our readers know about your business?
Lakeside Bath and Body specializes in artisan non toxic bath and body products. Our scents have personality! We are excited to be opening two new locations soon. Come see us at the Frisco Fresh Market as well as Frisco’s Painted Tree (H-5). We will also be in Dallas Farmers Market soon. It hasn’t been easy. I work until I’m exhausted, and then I work some more. I try to plan ahead. It’s easier to accomplish a goal, if you formulate a plan. I’ve learned to never give up. I’ve learned that hearing no doesn’t mean all hope is lost. If you want something, keep trying. It’ll happen eventually. I want the world to know that I’ve come from poverty. I come from the bottom. Never give up. Work hard. Put your faith in God. Things will get better.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
White Rock Lake is a favorite spot of mine.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
