We had the good fortune of connecting with Azure Maravilla and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Azure, how do you think about risk?
Personally, without risk my life would be meaningless. I was raised in an extremely volatile environment with Asian parents who would constantly put me down for my accomplishments and dreams. Because I was never allowed to take pride in my work and creativity, I’ve always been the type of person who walks to the beat of their own drum. The way I dress, talk, act, and express myself has always been bold and individualistic. Because of my resilience, I decided to risk my ego, pride, finances, and relationships in spite of my insecurities to push myself into becoming a real estate agent. Being fearless is a quality I take deep pride in now. Even if no one else is going to be proud of me, I think I owe it to myself to be the one to push myself towards greatness. Real estate is an image based business, and I’m still going against the grain. I want to put myself out there and show that real estate agents can be both knowledgeable and fun. Just because I can be silly doesn’t mean I shouldn’t be taken seriously or that I’m not responsible enough to do my job effectively. I don’t care what people think of me, I’m going to be the person that I have always wanted to be. When one allows themself to find who they truly are, they are able to help lead others towards their bliss as well.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Before becoming a real estate agent I have tried out multiple careers is various fields. I’ve been a singer, actress, political advocate, comedian, saleswoman, special education assistant, bartender, server, and hostess. To some my resume reads as a crazy women who doesn’t know what she wants, which is fair. But to me I’ve wandered down many different paths because I’m brave enough to try out different things and not be complacent. With all of my experiences in different areas I’m more confident in my abilities and my knowledge base. The world is full of so many opportunities and life if too short to limit yourself to what doesn’t scare you. Life is not worth living if you don’t actually live it.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
My perfect week would include: Eating/Drinking at: Uchi, Rise No.1, Terry Blacks, Ida Claire, Torcy’s Tacos, Sum Dang Good
Activities: Dallas Museum of Art, Cidercade, plays at Dallas Theater Center, yoga at Black Swan, Dallas Comedy Club, Hyenas Comedy Club, Top Golf, The Crow Collection of Asian Art

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Everything I’ve done is dedicated to my little brother, Tristan Maravilla, and my wonderful partner in crime, Nicky DiCarlo. Tristan, you make me proud everyday and I will always want to set the best possible example for you. Nicky, you are the love of my life and the best “planmate” I could have every asked for.
