We had the good fortune of connecting with Austin Pruett and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Austin, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
Over the past four years, my work-life balance has been heavily skewed toward growing the business. I’ve been working 60+ hours a week, and that level of commitment has been necessary to achieve the growth we’ve seen. However, as we transition into our new shop, I’m prioritizing better balance not just for myself, but also for my team. We’re planning to close on Saturdays, which I believe will significantly help in creating that balance.

Additionally, we’re in the process of adopting a new boy into our family, and with more kids, spending quality time with them has become even more important to me. I want to ensure that I’m present for my family while still delivering a consistent, high-quality product to our clients. By focusing on a more balanced approach, I believe it will not only benefit my personal life but also allow our team to provide even better service to our clients.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Fort Worth Auto Detail started as a passion project, a desire to provide top-tier detailing services in our community. What sets us apart is our unwavering commitment to quality and customer satisfaction. We’re the best-reviewed detail shop in Fort Worth, with over 175 five-star reviews, and we’re the only IDA (International Detailing Association) and CPD (Certified Professional Detailer) certified shop in DFW. We also offer professional-grade ceramic coatings with a manufacturer-backed warranty, and a free maintenance plan that ensures our clients’ vehicles remain in pristine condition long after they leave our shop.

Getting to where we are today hasn’t been easy. It took years of hard work, long hours, and significant sacrifices. One of the biggest challenges was learning how to scale the business while maintaining the high standards we set from day one. I overcame these challenges by staying focused on our core values, continually investing in training, and never compromising on the quality of our work.

The lessons I’ve learned along the way are invaluable. I’ve learned the importance of perseverance, the power of a dedicated team, and the need for balance in both business and life. Perhaps most importantly, I’ve learned that success isn’t just about financial growth—it’s about building something that genuinely adds value to our clients’ lives.

What I want the world to know about Fort Worth Auto Detail is that we’re not just a business; we’re a brand built on trust, quality, and a deep passion for what we do. Our story is one of relentless dedication, and I’m excited to continue growing and serving our community with the same level of excellence that got us here.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend were visiting for a week, we’d definitely start with some of the best food Fort Worth has to offer. First on the list is Joe T. Garcia’s—an iconic spot that’s a must-visit. The atmosphere is fantastic, especially when it’s not 100 degrees outside. For something a bit more upscale, we’d head to Clay Pigeon. The grilled duck breast there is hands down one of the best things I’ve ever eaten, and every dish I’ve tried at Piatello has been outstanding, so we’d definitely stop there as well.

For outdoor activities, we’d take a walk along the Trinity River. It’s a beautiful spot, especially in the cooler months, and it’s a great way to take in the natural beauty of the area. No trip to Fort Worth would be complete without visiting the Fort Worth Zoo—our kids love it, and it’s one of the best in the country.

Of course, I’d have to show them Fort Worth Auto Detail. Our state-of-the-art facility is something I’m really proud of, and it’s always exciting to share that part of my life with friends.

Throughout the week, we’d mix in some local craft breweries, maybe catch a live show at one of the nearby venues, and explore the Fort Worth Stockyards for a taste of authentic Texan culture. By the end of the trip, they’d have experienced some of the best food, sights, and activities Fort Worth has to offer.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Without a doubt, my shoutout goes to my wife. She is truly my rock. Building a business is incredibly challenging, and while many understand the hard work involved, not everyone realizes the toll it can take on those closest to you. My wife has not only taken on the immense responsibility of running our household and caring for our children, but she’s also thriving in her own career. On top of all that, she’s had to endure the ups and downs that come with the stress of growing a business and the emotional rollercoaster I can sometimes be. She manages it all with such grace, strength, and elegance. I’m certain we wouldn’t be where we are today without her unwavering support and resilience. She deserves all the credit and recognition in my story.
