We had the good fortune of connecting with Aubrie Mitchell and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Aubrie, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I’ve always known I wanted to do something in beauty. Ever since I was a little girl, I was mesmerized by makeup — not just the colors and textures, but the way it made people feel. When I was three years old, my mom was interviewed on The Oprah Winfrey Show, and I vividly remember watching Bobbi Brown do her makeup backstage. At the time, I had no idea who she was — but something about that moment stuck with me. I didn’t have the words for it then, but I knew: I want to do that.

Years later, at 17, I did makeup for my first bride — and that spark I felt as a child turned into something much deeper. I realized this wasn’t just about makeup; it was about creating an experience. One rooted in trust, intention, and making someone feel like the most radiant version of themselves on one of the most meaningful days of their life.

Since then, I’ve built my career as a luxury bridal makeup artist through Face by Aubrie — a brand centered on skin-focused glam, calm energy, and artistry that enhances rather than masks. Pursuing a creative career gave me the freedom to blend passion with purpose, and create a lane that feels soulful, elevated, and entirely my own.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Face by Aubrie was built from the ground up — literally. I started doing makeup for friends when I was 14, and by the time I was 17 and still in high school, I was booked for my very first wedding. That one experience lit something in me that’s only grown stronger over time. Now, nearly a decade later, I’ve had the honor of being a part of over 250 weddings — and each one has taught me something new about artistry, people, and presence.

In 2022, I took a leap and relocated from my hometown to the DFW area. That move changed everything. It pushed me to completely revamp my artistry, elevate my brand, and really refine my style. I began focusing on soft, ethereal bridal makeup — the kind that feels effortless but elevated — with an emphasis on luxury, personalization, and skin integrity. For me, good makeup starts with good skin. I use only the best products on the market and take time to prep and nourish the skin before a single brush touches the face.

What sets Face by Aubrie apart is the experience. From the first email to the final touch-up before the aisle, everything I do is intentional. I want my clients to feel taken care of, understood, and radiant — like the most polished version of themselves.

Now, I travel across the country for weddings, and I also offer private, one-on-one makeup lessons — both for artists looking to level up their technique and for everyday clients who want to feel more confident in their own routines. Teaching has become such a rewarding part of my journey, and I love pouring into others the way others have poured into me.

This business is deeply personal. It’s built on trust, artistry, and the belief that beauty is about more than how you look — it’s how you feel. And I’m proud to have created a brand that reflects that.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
When friends come to visit, I try to give them a little bit of everything I love about DFW — good food, thoughtful spaces, beautiful art, and a slower pace when we need it.

We’d probably start the week with coffee at La La Land Kind Café — it’s light, bright, and just feels good. For food, some of my staples are Mot Hai Ba, Spice Thai, and The Tango Room. Each spot feels special in its own way — not just because the food is great, but because of the energy and the way they make you feel when you’re there.

We’d definitely carve out time for art — I love Dallas Contemporary and Valley House Gallery for inspiration, and the Perot Museum is such a fun way to reset and tap into curiosity.

There’s so much shopping around the city, but I like to just explore. Whether it’s Bishop Arts, Highland Park Village, or a pop-up market — there’s always something unexpected to find.

And somewhere in the mix, we’re taking time to slow down. Maybe a walk through The Arboretum, a facial at Hiatus, or just sitting outside with matcha and good conversation. That’s what I love most about this city — it has range. You can be inspired, indulgent, or completely unplugged… all in the same day.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My mom has been one of the biggest influences in my life. She’s always believed in me — even before I fully believed in myself — and her support has meant everything. She’s the kind of woman who leads with strength and softness, and that’s something I’ve always admired and tried to carry with me in both life and business.

I’m also incredibly grateful to my first bride. She gave me a chance when I was just starting out, and that one “yes” genuinely shifted the direction of my life. It reminded me how powerful it is when someone sees potential in you.

And finally, to every client who’s ever sat in my chair — thank you. Your trust, your stories, and your energy have helped shape the artist and woman I continue to grow into.
