We had the good fortune of connecting with Ashlyn Colette and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ashlyn, how did you come up with the idea for your business?
It was really on accident. Sometimes I feel like there is an invisible path that we are simply blindly following. Of course this is just a theory, but if you were to tell me I had a sound bath business and helped people heal their inner world, even 3 years ago I would have no idea what you were even talking about. This business came to me, I did not seek it. All I have done is simply followed the next sequential step that made the most sense.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am a sound bath therapy practitioner. What makes me unique is the setting in which I preform my sound baths. I do mostly one on one sessions, so that they are individually tailored to the singular being in front of me. By doing this it helps me to be able to have a pointed focus on what the person is bringing to the table. I hold space, but it is the guest who is doing the work. I am most proud of my ability to consistently guide people through this experience. Without getting too ethereal, It feels like another force is working through me, purely based on the experiences I have had with others. My business is a slow progression. I see everything as an experiment. I am just testing it out, seeing what works and what doesn’t. I do not put pressure on my business to hold me up, and so it is purely for play purposes.
My biggest lesson is not forcing anything that does not feel right. Challenges and failure is an inevitable part of a business, but if you can’t pivot and keep going, then you will only go as far as you allow yourself.
I do not do this for money (but I do believe in an equal energy exchange) I do this because I want to be there for others, and be a part of their journey if they allow me to be. This is not a role I ever imagined myself to be in, but it is a role that makes the most sense considering who I have always been.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My current favorite food spot is UnaVida. It is a clean food restaurant with incredible flavors, all curated by Chef Matt McCallister. I am so impressed with this place, their food quality and level of care is something I have not seen in a while. The Dallas Arboretum is a beautiful nature reserve. We do not have a whole lot of nature in Dallas, but the spots we do have make up for it. The farmers market on the weekend is also a wonderful place to hang out, with lots of local vendors and fresh foods. It also has my favorite view of the city.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
A very large shout out to my partner, Will von Bolton, and his company, Becoming Conscious, for being an inspiring force and helping me be aware of myself. It is so hard to see ourself, we need others to reflect the parts that shine the most light. Thank you, Will, for being my partner through this lifetime.
